I'm gobsmacked. I tried to find out more about what has been done for her but a lot of the reports are unclear. I found this part of the petition (calling for the tv network to take responsbility) completely chilling:

"The victim, Monique Amin, on the following day, said she did not remember anything regarding the incident:"They called me to the confessionary and asked if he had done anything. I know I didn't, but now I'm going mad thinking... did I do anything? Did I not? I'm feeling very bad about it". Confused, she went to her aggressor, Daniel Echaniz, who then told her that they "only kissed" and told her to "let it go". Still, Monique kept worrying about the whole situation. "Was I so wasted that I can't remember antyhing?", she asked. She still hasn't been informed of anything and, probably, never will be told of her rape."

Disgusting.

The woman denies having been raped

"Em depoimento à polícia, os dois disseram que houve consentimento. Ela afirmou que estava consciente durante a troca de carícias e que não houve penetração. Cada um foi ouvido por cerca de uma hora e meia."

"In a statement to police, the two said that there was consent. She said she was conscious during the exchange of strokes and there was no penetration. Each one was [questioned] for about an hour and a half."

WTF?? Why is she being "questioned" as though she's done something wrong?

BertieBotts · 18/01/2012 12:55
Angry
coccyx · 18/01/2012 12:58

Not that she has done anything wrong, she needs to be questioned to get information surely

BertieBotts · 18/01/2012 13:05

Just makes it sound as though they were both treated the same, it hasn't been said if she's been offered any kind of support or anything.

"Questioned" was my paraphrasing of the Google-translation, which was originally "listened to", I think.

I had heard about this and as I understand it (was a couple of days ago)

Viewers were calling the station to say they were worried about what was going on as they thought she was out of it
Diary room called her in the next day and asked about it and she didn't seem to know anything about it, they asked her some questions and she just seemed like she really didn't know what had happened, and at that point the police were called
