Floor/splash mat

Hi there. I'm looking for a splash mat to go on the floor under our highchair to protect the carpet. I've been using one I bought from Asda but it's very thin and only lasts a few weeks with regular wiping and occasional washing and keeps riding up on the floor... and is slowly driving us potty! I was thinking about getting an oilskin tablecloth to go on the floor but these seem quite expensive. Any ideas/recommendations out there? What are other people using?

we cheated and bought 1.5m of wipeable tablecloth type of material from Dunelm Mill - wipes pretty well and at £2.99 if it stains and needs replacing in a few months time i cant complain

Other option is a shower curtain - the fabric type not the slippy polyester or plastic ones - I bought one from Ikea which I cut into 4 bits, so just shove one in the wash with whatever else is going in (lazy, me?)

We've just got a cheap shower curtain.

If you want heavy duty though, what about a tarpaulin or a piece of pond liner.

John Lewis do nice wipeable tablecloth pattern fabric on a roll. I was looking at a nice one with dogs on today in the Oxford St branch!

I second a shower curtain, just shake it out and chuck it in the machine.

We have wipeable tablecloth, but I would caution against a highly patterned one as our experience was that it was really hard to see whether you'd cleaned it properly or not.

And however big a one you get, I suspect splatters on the carpet are inevitable. Hell, we even have some on the wall 2m behind ds's highchair. Think I might need a vax...

I just bought plastic on a roll from the market which is transparent with pics of fish on it. Works fine

We use a big fleece blanket or large bath towel under high chair and fold it up, give it a shake in the garden en route to the washing machine.

No wiping required and it folds up small for storage purposes
