Help choosing a high chair for a breakfast bar!

Hi, I'm starting to look at high chairs for my 4-month old and have no idea where to start as I've never had any contact with a weaning child before (eek).

Has anyone out there got a highchair that they would recommend for use at a breakfast bar. We don't have a dining table and so want to start eating our meals at the breakfast bar alongside our little one and I've noticed that there is quite a big height difference in high chairs available. The only high chair I've seen so far that claims to be suitable for breakfast bars is the Bloom Fresco which at over £300 is kinda out of my price range. Can anyone recommend anything cheaper?

The height really is important to me as I'm quite tall and I've found that if I use anything other than my own changing unit (which took a lot of finding), I get backache because its too low.

Hope someone has some hints.

Thanx

Have you thought about getting one of those highchairs that are clipped onto the table in which case the height of the table is no issue at all?

Yes, would recommend one that clips on. We have one and it has been fab, used it loads between my four children. I got mine from Boots, I think Chicco do one and I'm sure there are other makes.

Just read you have a four month old.

The clip on chairs are not as supportive for the child's head and neck so you may need to wait until 6mt+ to use one.

thanks all - I shall investigate at mothercare/babies r us today. My little girl is very upright and with a strap on can hold herself up already so I'm looking to move her into a chair within the coming weeks... am hoping to inherit a bumbo to last me until then.

thanks again

Must admit I do love the Bloom Loft... Also have a look at the HandySitt which could possibly work with your current breakfast bar chairs if they have a back on them - have a look at www.boohoobaby.co.uk/prod_show.asp?id=1430

I had a clip on one and it was absolutely fabulous. Just check out to try and get one that the covers can be removed and then machine washed

I just got the chicco 360. Tis on sale at mothercare, it's much nicer irl than pics. Fabric is lovely. Seat well padded and supportive. Our 20m old can't climb out of this one like he could with antilop or safety 1st booster. Naturally a good height for whatever table. I think you'd be okay with your baby in it. You could always roll a blanket or sheet and tuck it around her if you felt she needed more support. X

Brother Max Scoop - bit pricey, 'though cheaper than Bloom, better and will last 'till 5 yrs old, so maybe good investment? Easy to pump up to b bar height. Someone also recommended Chicco 360 as has Troubadour. :-)
It looks v good, but think i prefer having actual seat and tray so that can sit/feed anywhere and be secure. Good luck, shame not more affordable options that go to b bar height
