Yay! It can happen. After over a year of trying, I have finally found a suitable part-time job.

Just delighted to be able to tell you that I have finally been offered a part-time job. I was previously a teacher, but now have a post working for a children's organisation.

The searching was the first hurdle - identifying those jobs I could get to, which I was suitable for and where the hours were compatible with childcare, then there were the applications. After I received my offer I looked back on the PC and realised that I had gone through seventeen full application processes (including application forms, interviews, presentations, exercises and demo lessons) and sent off over 50 targeted speculative applications - sending my CV to a named individual where I had good reason to believe that they might be interested in what I had to offer.

So it has been a huge amount of effort, but has finally paid off!

Wow, that's brilliant! Well done.

I also found a part-time job through speculative applications and I was very happy when I got it, so I know where you're coming from!

Best of luck in your new position Smile

Fantastic! Well done and good luck in your new job.

Thanks. It was a long time coming. It was through an application process in the end, but I think it was still worth leaving no stone unturned in terms of speculative applications.

Wow, fantastic news, and very inspiring!
Enjoy your new job.

Congratulations this gives me some faith - I am currently on the job hunt and I have had 5 applications and two rejections so far. Really starting to get disheartened as it is so difficult to find decent PT work.

I don't know where you are based, but I found that Guardian jobs has a facility where you can search for part-time jobs. That was where I eventually found my job.

I regularly looked at:

Teaching specific sites
Local authority web sites
Women Like Us
Mumsnet job board
Large organisations which might be family friendly eg. NCT
Guardian jobs
