Got gynae appt but will have period

That's it really - it's to look at a lump on my vulva. I just phoned the clinic and they said that clinic is only on Fridays, and I'd have to wait another month for an appt if I don't take this one (which would also coincide with my period).

What to do? Hate the thought of going with a period, but I also want to be seen...

I was told by my gynae not to worry about having an appointment when on my period, although certain procedure can't be done or aren't as easy to see if you have your period. He told me examining me whilst I had my period wasn't a problem for him, but if I would rather not be examined I could change my appointment.

If it were me and they told me the alternative would be to wait another month I'd go today.

Will you be very heavy?

Thanks, It may come early - it has done recently, in which case it won't be super heavy. I guess I could try using that mooncup I bought and have never got round to using...I also read online about a pill to delay your period - I'm considering getting GP appt to see about this.

I think I have to go to the appt, I can't bear waiting what will be another 6 weeks.

Hi alone...I've had a lot of gynae exams unfortunately over the last year and a couple coincided with periods. My consultant (male) quite honestly couldn't care less whether I had my period or not - bothered me much more than him! If you think about it, they see loads of women with period problems so its not at all unusual. The mooncup might be a good idea though, just to make you feel better about it and to give a clearer view. Hope you get on ok x

Roseanna,
Thank you - that makes me feel much better. I'm not going to wait another 5 weeks, so I think I'm just going to have to accept that it'll be what it is.
