I get prescribed imigran for hormone related migraines, I get one every month a few days before I start.
Perhaps ask your doctor? Sleep and a cold, dark room is the only thing that helps me if I don't take a tablet in time.

I do ! Starts before for a out 3 days solid, makes me squint my eyes they are so bad.
Interested to see what works for others, paracetamol and ibrofen together can be good, but have to take them regularly as when it comes in its so strong, I get dizzy too for a few days along with it.

I used to get a severe migraine when I stopped my pill for the 7 day break and would last the final 3 days of my period. Turned out to be a hormone thing so if she is on the pill, I'd put it down to that

When I was a teenager I used to get migraines like this when I was due for a period. I grew out of them and got one again quite randomly a couple of years ago...turns out I was pregnant.

My DM usedtoget migraines along with period. She would be bed bound for a day ortwo. She had immigran injections. Didn't stop until after the menopause. I occasionally have visual migraines around the time of my period. No headache just fuzzy sperm like swimmers across my vision getting gradually worse so that I can barely see. Only lasts up to 3 hours. I know some people who instantly go completely blind during migraines.

Yes, I used to get exactly that. Excruciating!

Went on mini-pill for excessive bleeding (fibroids) and it has totally cured the headaches as well!

(The headaches I think are caused by sudden reduction in prostesterone caused by monthly cycle ... or should that be oestrogen? ... One of the two anyway!!)

The only painkiller that used to work for me is called 'Voltaren' (but I live in mainland Europe so may be called something else if you are in UK) - anyway - it's proper name is 'diclofenac' but you have to take it with caution because it has been found to have some nasty side effects (esp if taken long term). I got it through a prescription and ...tmi alert....I'm afraid it was in suppository form (couldn't take orally because headache made me throw up) and frankly I would have stuck anything anywhere to relieve that horrible pain Grin Worked a treat!

Yes. The one eyed headache! I read somewhere take more than usual aspirin immediately (I won't say how many I take as not a medic.) and I chuck down some paracetamol at the same time. Repeat at regular intervals. Not a cure but enables me to drive.
