Breast Clinic Appointment

topsyturner · 11/05/2011 13:31

So I had my appointment this morning .
First of all the breast nurse examined me .
Then I had a mammogram .
Then an ultrasound .
Then 2 needle biopsies (breast and armpit)
Then a core biopsy (breast)

Long story short .
I have breast cancer .
It is also in the nodes in my armpit .

I have an appointment with the surgical consultant next Thursday to discuss the results of the core biopsy (takes a week for those results)

I am very much in shock .

I am so sorry you are going through this, and of course you feel like you are in shock. What did the bc nurse actually say, did she say they think it is cancer? I had exactly the same procedures, and even had to have surgery to remove a mass, but it was still benign. It might not be as bad news as you think. There is a liovely supportive thread on here whatever your results. I will post the link.

I am so sorry, and sorry you have to wait for the full details, come and join us.

Topsy, I'm so, so sorry. I was hoping from the other thread that you might get good news. If it helps at all, I was diagnosed last March - I also found out same day and had it in the nodes too. I am genuinely okay now and back to normal, so maybe that thought might help you a teeny bit. I'm not saying life will be tough for the next few months, but if I can get through, then I'm sure you can too. Sparkle's right, the Tamoxifen thread is definitely sanity inducing. Come over and join us if you feel up to it.

topsyturner · 11/05/2011 14:05

You had it in the nodes too smee ?
So its not as dark as I am thinking then ?

Thankyou for that , it really helps me at the moment .

Yes - mine showed up on ultrasound too, and I had fnb and results same day. You'll probably find they'll suggest scans (CT and Bone) to check if it's spread elsewhere. It's highly unlikely it has, but it's hugely reassuring once you're through the scans, as if it's only in the nodes BC's deemed both treatable and curable. I know it's terrifying - I have never been so scared. Just answered you on Tamoxifen thread too. Glad you made it over there. Smile

Firstly I am so so sorry to hear your news. It is a tremendous shock. I went through it all last year aged 40 years. I do not know how I got through the first weeks but literally took it hour by hour. I was also diagnosed on same day and after that things moved quickly after week or two. Now fine :-) and feel like life is back to normal. I had two masects and reconstructions.

Good luck. I will be thinking of you.

Topsyturner

Really sorry to read this news. I'm also a BC lady and mine was in my nodes too. I'm 17months post diagnosis and have good days and bad days but I'm back to work and functioning pretty much as normal.
