I started yesterday:
Sat: Roast chicken, jack pots, cauliflower & white sauce
Sun: Modified Jamie's 30 min chicken pie (leftovers), with berry crumble & custard
Mon: Lemon/ginger chicken (scrapings of leftovers!) stir-fry with noodles
Tues: Slow cooker beef in ale with home made bread
Weds: Jacket pots and fillings
Thurs: HM soup - carrot, celery, peppers, lentil & HM bread
Fri: fish pie
Monday - chicken roast
Tuesday - chicken fajitas with leftover chicken, salad (may change to chicken risotto)
Wednesday - sausage linguine
Thursday - chicken burgers, homemade spicy wedges, salad
Friday - Spanish omelette,
Saturday - beef curry and rice, homemade naans
Sunday - out for lunch
Sun - pea and pancetta risotto
Mon - spicy sausage pasta
Tue - tomato and fennel soup
Wed - beans on toast for dcs (post swimming); pasta carbonara & salad for us
Thu - something Thai (have ginger & lemongrass to use up)
Fri - curry
Sat - out for a friend's birthday
Sun - don't know yet!
Sunday had Chicken stroganoff leftovers from freezer with left over mash and spinach.
Made a big batch of turkey bolognaise last night so that's tonight and tomorrow's dinner.
Wed is omelettes and chips using mushrooms left over from making bolognaise (and is Ash Wednesday so can't have meat)
Bought some good quality canned Tuna in the deli so will use that on Thurs and Fri (maybe in a pasta dish or will make Tuna Melt jacket potatoes with salad)
We shop on a Thursday so our week runs that way IYSWIM?
So we have had - Thursday - fresh tagliatelle with salmon and broccoli and some mascarpone that was "ooopsed" in asda - asda do single lightly smoked fillets which you can micro which is plenty for pasta for 2-3
Friday - chilli made n the slow cooker - large pack of mince but then padded out with 3 tins of beans - mixed, pinto and black beans from the international section - enough for me, dh, 5yods and 8month old ds plus two portions to freeze.
Saturday - slow cooker chicken, home made yorkshires
Monday - slow cooker spicy chicken to have as fajitas
Tuesday - sausages and green lentils
Wednesday - not sure, is just me, dh and smaller boy - steak pies from the freezer maybe...
I just started meal planning and I'm gradually getting my shopping bill down I still tend to overspend though.
Monday: pasta with meatballs, salad.
Tuesday: Pancakes with Bolognese and Bechtel sauce, salad, more pancakes.
Thursday: steak, chips, nice veg depending on what looks good, salad.
Friday: Salmon& stir-fried veg.
Saturday: baked potatoes
Sunday: roast chicken.
Pregnant Pause!!!! Sorry I only just saw your request for recipe for salmon gnocci bake - not so much a recipe but,
cook gnocci as per instructions - usually 3mins
put in casserole dish with: couple of tablespoons of chopped dun dried toms
strips of smoked salmon
handful of frozen peans
2 tablespoons creme fraiche
dried mixed herbs - 1 teaspoon
mix all together
grate some cheddar on the top
stick in oven for 20 mins or so 180 ish.
Baked potatoes with beans and cheese
Tomato and bacon pasta
Steak and chips
Cod and red pepper parcels with couscous
(But now I want toad in the hole!)
Not done mine yet, but as some of us are in for lunch, I have started making big pots of soup a couple of times a week as well - something very filling that counts with lunch with bread. Is fab to have in the fridge and we are eating much better because of it. Normally lentil or the like, but today it is minestrone as savoy cabbages were only 39p in Aldi!

Re: the chicken IceBerg, I just buy the £4.99 Aldi one and generally use one breast/legs for the roast and then strip the rest for the other meals. There's only me and DH and 2 littlies (3 and 1.5). I bulk out meals with root veg mash, veggies etc.
The chicken pie I made with some of the left overs was rammed with leeks, courgettes, mushrooms and sweetcorn as well as the chicken, so not too much meat needed.
There was still plenty to go in the stir-fry and then I've got some mixed with mayo in my sandwiches.
Yesterday - roast chicken with roast pots for me and dh and dd1, dd2 mash ,stuffing and veggies.
Today- left over chicken used as a soup with lots of veggies plus bread rolls and butter
Tuesday- home made pizzas (dds especially like making these) with bits and pieces such as coleslaw or pickles .. What ever is in the house.
Wednesday- lamb chops with roast pots and mash and veggies.
Thursday- leek and potato soup with bread rolls.
Friday- ham, eggs, beans and chips.
Saturday- chicken fagitas /wraps. Chicken with peppers, tomatoes, onions, salsa , sour cream. All laid out on table make own wraps.
Sunday- homemade sausage and onion pie and veg. Homemade apple crumble and ice cream /custard for afters.
Can't believe that's all planned out!
I don't get a particularly big chicken. Usually under 1.5kg. We just have small portions of roast chicken with loads of veg/any other trimmings. Then we use the rest up for 2 other meals (neither of which require large portions of meat for anyone). There are usually leftovers from all the meals for DH to have for lunch the next day. There are 4 of us: me, DH, DS1 (12) and DS2 (3). The kids do not eat like birds; in fact, how much DS1 eats is a standing joke amongst his friends.
Sunday - we had sausage & bean casserole (Hairy Bikers Recipe)
Monday - pork fillet stroganoff (cheaper than beef)
Tues - not sure, maybe pizza
Wednesday - Beef stew
Thursday - Turkey meatballs and pasta
Friday - Fish-fingers for the kiddies, lamb curry for the adults (they don't like spice)
Now that I have written it down, all sounds a bit crap!
it's from Hamlyn's Ultimate Slow Cooker book which is a good 'un IMO.
500g squid tubes & tentacles
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
400g can chopped tomatoes
150ml fish stock
4 tsp capers, drained
50g black olives
2-3 sprigs of thyme
1 tsp fennel seeds, roughly crushed
1 tsp caster sugar
salt & pepper
linguine to serve
Thickly slice the squid.
Fry onion, garlic & add the tomatoes, stock, capers, olives, thyme, fennel seeds, sugar, salt & pepper and bring to the boil.
Transfer to the slow cooker & add the sliced squid.
Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours
Serve tossed with cooked linguine.
serves 4, prep time 25 mins, cooking temperate low
As for chicken, we get a large one (1.8-2kg) and it does:
Roast dinner for 2 hungry adults (and DD takes a small bit)
Sambos for at least 2 days for DH
Curry for another night for 3 of us (with extra veg thrown in)
Soup (use the carcass to make stock and throw in leftover veg from roast) - enough for 3-4 people
Usually have enough to make a risotto (uses stock as well) for a 3rd night
And I'd often have more left than I can use so fast, and put a bag in freezer to make:
Chicken and mushroom pie
Chicken and mushrooms in white wine/cream sauce (from scratch or tin cambpells soup)
Chicken in tomato sauce with extra veg on pasta
Chicken and cheese toasties
Throw handful into an omlette with some tomato
Sun: Chicken and mushrooms in white wine and cream sauce, with rice
Mon: Lamb meatballs with pasta, tomato sauce and mediterranean veg
Tues: Batter fish and oven chips for littlies; scallop, chorizo and cherry tomato pasta for DH and I (our anniversary)
Wed: Vegetarian (AP cooks)
Thurs: Chicken fajitas
I'll worry about the rest of the week when I get to it....
Can I ask how you make a roast chicken last for 3 days?? What size is it and how big is your family? We get a medium chicken (4-6) and its barely enough for one meal.
Sunday - Roast
Monday - Shephards pie (mince, mushrooms, courgette, carrot, pepper) with swede and potato topping
Tuesday - Paneer and spinach curry with rice
Wednesday - Prawn, chilli and tomato with linguine
Thursday - Trout with roasted veg and new potoates
Friday - Spagetti bol with the mince from Monday
Saturday - Roast chicken and salad
Sunday - Chicken noddle soup (with leftovers because teens at their mums!)

Sat: macaroni and cauliflower cheese

Mon: Cottage pie (from roast beef leftovers)

Today - roast without the meat - dd and I both not fussed about meat. And we had 2 YPs each to replace it...
Mon - salmon with new pots and broccoli
Tues - freezer roulette
Wed - late home night, something on toast with pudding
Thurs - pasta ( probably pesto for dd, stilton and walnut for me)
Fri - dahl and rice
For my lunches, have soup in freezer done for week, just need to remember to take out each day. Choice of butternut, cauliflower or leek and potato
I do my veg risotto in the oven - bloody genius. Cook veg for a bit, add 300g rice & stir around for a minute or two, then 700ml stock - lid on & put it in the oven for 20mins at 180.
I'm a meal down already this week - had planned to use beef leftovers for tomorrow's cottage pie but had friends come round so we ate it all up instead.
Mon - squid putanesca (slow cooker, it's yum)
Tues - mutton, pearl barley & veg stew
Weds - butternut squash & fennel lasage (HFW, also yum)
Thurs - savoury veg crumble
Fri - dp & I are out, the kids will have something like eggs on toast.
Sat - something meaty because DP will cook
Sun - roast again!
Today: roast chicken, boulangere pots, roast veg
Mon: chicken and butternut squash risotto (leftovers)
Tue: chicken and sweetcorn soup with prawn crackers (more leftovers)
Wed: toad in the hole with veg
Thurs: macaroni cheese
Fri: beef burritos
Sat: roast onion tart/quiche affair
*Wed-sat meals may appear in any order
Monday - chicken and left over bits quiche ( just finished cooking)
Tues - carrot and lentil soup
Wed - mince with lentils and beans, with roast potatoes
Thurs - going out for anniversary curry! Yay
Fri - spaghetti bolognase (using mince from wed)
Sat - lasagna (last of the mince)
Sunday - something involving sausages
Mon - Chicken curry and brown rice
Tue - spag Bol with wholewheat spaghetti (will make triple of the bolognese and freeze some portions)
Wed - salmon, noodles, stir fried veg and soy sauce
Thurs - sausage, mash and beans
Fri - Leftover freezer party food (mini pies, chinesey bites etc) from a gathering we had last week! Ds will probably have a lasagne also from freezer.
Sat - pub meal (we go out to the local for tea once a fortnight!)
Sun - toad in the hole with green veg and onion gravy
