Home made sponge cake-slightly stale is best.
Slice and sprinkle with sherry.
Use liquid from 3 cans of raspberries and mix with gelatine, then add to fruit again, adding chopped walnuts.
Goes on top of sponge.
Cooled home made custard.
Whipped cream
Toasted almonds

I do the same as Remus......but I slice trifle sponges & spread rasp jam on them, chuck raspberries & a shake of icing sugar to sweeten. Douse with raspberry liqueur, cover with ready made custard, then the whipped cream & flaked almonds & sometimes I chuck pomegranite on the top as well.

I do the same as Remus. Maybe use Madeira instead of port and just the smallest sprinkle of grated dark chocolate over the almonds -yum!

Will you all shirrup about bloody trifle.

I sooooo want some.

<<drools>>

No jelly.

Sponge cake
Douse with port.
Layer with raspberries
More port
Custard (I use the 'posh' ready made stuff from the fridge aisle)
Whipped cream
Make a syrup from port and sugar. Cool. Drizzle over the cream.
Top with toasted flaked almonds.
