Mumsnet

We've had a breakthrough with DD (or she is telling me what I want to hear)

We collected her Dad from choir last night, and they asked her to come back

I said well as long as she only does 2 rehearsals before the concert I'll let her join & she said "I don't have time mum, I'll have to give choir a miss"

So maybe she does listen to me (occasionally)

Yipee!

& then we had total meltdown last night/this morning because she is tired

Maybe she will listen to me now?

It sounds like she's starting to realise how busy she is. There does come a time when they make their own sensible decisions - she's made one so far but there may be other activities have to go.

We too face regular meltdowns over super-busyness, as I've said before. Maybe when she comes home later it would bea good time to look at what else could be cut? Even having a couple of weeks break from something might help?

Well half-term is only a fortnight away, but she might need more than that

She doesn't want to give anything up

But maybe she can give something a miss ever now and then? Not go to every rehearsal every week? Tht's what I insist on for my DD15 when she looks mike she's about to implode (as she has done this last 3 weeks or so). It just buys a little sauce to recover and catch up on yourself.

Maybe it's post Christmas blues - January is always hard
