I was wondering if anyone can answer this question as HR, so far can't and expect me to wait another 3 weeks, after waiting 4 already to find out the answer! I am due to start my maternity leave on May 10th, and plan to take 9 months which will take me up to mid Feb. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew if I would accrue the summer hols, October week etc and be able to add these hols onto the end of my mat leave.
I have a feeling that you can't accrue holidays if you are term time only - I've seen threads on here by teachers and they don't get accrued holiday I think. Am sure there will be an expert along shortly to confirm!
I work three days a week, Wednesday to Friday (21.5 hrs) term-time in a college library. I get all the holidays schools get, Summer, Easter, October week etc. I can't get time off outwith term time hols.
So therefore there are no holidays available for you to accrue! You can only accrue holiday if you work in place where you can take holiday when you want and have a set number of days annual leave allowance .
Unfortunately you will have to go back mid February.
Well at last HR worked out that I would be owed 16.5 days holiday which could be added onto my maternity leave. And as I only work part-time these days will cover the Wednesday-Fridays I work. I therefore go back the last week in March instead of the 12th of Feb. Very happy as I get more time to spend with my little one before returning to work
