Thank you Rockchick1984 thats really encouraging. It is so long since i've had a complete job change that I'm a little bit lost at the moment. I'm also doing an online computer course to brush up on my word processing which I'm a bit rusty on. Thanks again,

I was offered a job in an estate agency based on my customer service experience (sales work in a high street bank) so I don't see why you would have any problems necessarily although I was working for the bank at the time. I suppose if they had experienced staff apply you would struggle more however if not then the customer service nature of your job would be very beneficial. (incidentally I refused the job when offered as I'd found out I was pregnant and the bank offered a good maternity package).

I am hoping to change job this year. For the last 15 years I have worked in restaurants (in one I was restaurant manager). I did this work as it fit around my children and school holidays - previously worked in a bank and found the school holidays very stressful re childcare.
My DC are now older and independent so don't need to work these hours any more so I have decided this year is my time to move. I plan on applying to banks and building societys but am also drawn to letting or estate agency too but my problem is I'm 42 and have no experience in this area.
I have browsed a few job vacancys but they all require experience - would they just bin my CV or would my very strong customer service history get me an interview?
Also I was thinking of approaching an estate/letting agency and offering myself one day a week with no pay for say 6 months to get experience or would that seem a bit mad?? It has been so long since I had to apply for a job that I really am a bit lost.
