I had an agent approach a firm for me about a job that was on offer about 4 months ago. I was told that firm had withdrawn position for economic reasons.
Now a friend is introducing me to someone within the same firm to discuss work possibilities.
Do I say to the firm that the agent had approached them many months ago on my behalf? If I were to be offered a job can the agent try to claim fees? Just wonder how it works

Yes they did

they'd probably be able to claim fees then - depends on the contract between the company & the agent - there would usually be a time limit

Yes the agent could probably claim an introduction fee, depending on the agreement they have with the company.

It makes sense that they should be able to claim but I imagine that any reasonable agreement would include time limitations. My curiosity stems from wondering how salary would be affected by an employer having to paying agents' fees.
