It's that time of year again. dd's will be +3% for 2011-12

OP posts:
ptiger · 10/04/2011 18:22

ds fees went up 4.45% lower than in previous years

EssexBecca · 10/04/2011 18:33

Just 1% here.

MollieO · 10/04/2011 18:35

5% here.

Lizcat · 10/04/2011 18:58

3% here.

amerryscot · 11/04/2011 07:19

Ours are unchanged this year.

diabolo · 11/04/2011 10:48

nearly 4% for me

shivanjali · 11/04/2011 19:00

Nearly 5% here.

Is this normal ? New to indie sector, DS only been there two terms. Do fees go up every year ?

MikeRotch · 11/04/2011 19:00

hahahah

trice · 11/04/2011 19:07

+3%

EldonAve · 11/04/2011 19:09

almost 5% here

shivanjali - yes they will always go up

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/04/2011 19:09

yes about 3% here, soon to break the £5000 a term barrier.

diabolo · 11/04/2011 20:59

shivanjali - the fees at DS's prep stayed the same for the first 3 years (thank you God), but have gone up, slowly, over the past 3.

Sign of the times I fear!

It's still an amazing affordable prep school though, so I'm not complaining.

Ratherbe... ours have just passed £3K per term. £5K would be a nightmare.

alwaysaskingquestions · 11/04/2011 21:24

3.5% here.

Hulababy · 11/04/2011 21:26

Don't know yet. I expect we will find out when we get back after April now.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/04/2011 21:34

We are senior though - a senior day in SW London. Nuff said. Confused

diabolo · 11/04/2011 21:39

OK - that explains it.

Grin
OliPolly · 11/04/2011 22:41

2 percent here ! Stayed the same for last 4 years

shivanjali · 11/04/2011 23:05

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so daft, of course fees will go up (as opposed to down - fat chance) but I was just trying to gauge if it happens annually or ever few years. Fees have been static for past three years here so rise was probably inevitable but I wasn't expecting +5%.

belledechocchipcookie · 11/04/2011 23:10

2.75%

MollieO · 12/04/2011 07:08

One prep near us put their fees up by 10% last year. Not sure what their increase is this year.

sunnydelight · 12/04/2011 07:34

Our school fees have gone up 7% a year for the past three years.

Loshad · 12/04/2011 11:06

+3.8% here for one school, haven't heard from the other yet

sieglinde · 12/04/2011 11:39

Shivanjali and others - they will go to whatever level the market - that's you - will stand. There was a TERRIFYING article form a former guvvernor at the Dragon saying that he'd presided over one eyewatering - his word - increase after another. In ds's 10+ years in the indy sector fees went up by over 100%. They have No Mercy. They are businesses, like the oil companies, and they will charge what the parents will pay.

So if it's marginal for you, I would really think about when you want to spend the money - obvious times IMHO are 4-8 and 16-18.

EldonAve · 12/04/2011 13:37

They are not all businesses though, some are charitable trusts

sieglinde · 12/04/2011 13:38

The charitable trusts act like businesses, in the main.
