I sold a sofa and chair on ebay on 18th Jan and very specifically put in the ad that it was to be picked up on weekend of 20th Jan. DIdn't hear from the buyer til the Sunday when they phoned to say they would pick up last Friday.
They didn't turn up on Friday so Saturday morning I put in an ebay non payer record against them. They then contacted me to say that they thought they had contacted me to say they couldn't come on Friday (they bloody hadn't - no message and no phone call).
I told them that they had til (this) Tuesday to pick it up otherwise I was putting it on sale elsewhere (in fact, I am probably going to give it away).
BUT, this afternoon they contacted me to say they couldn't pick it up until next Saturday - 2 sodding weeks since I sold it.
It is in my way and I want it gone.
It is cash on collection and they haven't paid. What I can't seem to find out is where I stand on this. Can I just tell them to sod off, or do I have to wait for 2 weeks after the sale date (this coming Thursday), in which case I might as well wait til they turn up on Saturday.
I can't decide if they are taking the piss or not (they joined ebay in October and have no feedback and no positive, or negative comments).
Can anyone help me understand where I stand on this?
You can move to cancel the transaction, they are in breach of contract.
Hi ragged, thankyou.
I thought they had two weeks to pay, although having said that I note that I could put a non payer item against them after 4 days so maybe that is the timing?
I have tried to find something helpful on ebay but frankly got lost in their policies section.

just close the non paying bidder dispute on Tuesday - they will get a strike, can't leave feedback and then you can move on and relist.

re: paying before collection
Thank you everyone. They have said they are coming on Saturday. I've decided to see if that happens before I close the non paying bidder dispute.
Its bloody annoying though!
Ha! Yeah right.
Sorry... truly hope my cynicism is misplaced & you're quids in by Saturday evening.
Don't be afraid to NPB them if they stand you up.

Let us know if they turn up, will be interesting to see. Some people do this on freecycle, saying they will collect then just dont turn up, no email, nothing.

I have offered a couple of people a guaranteed sale if they end an auction early but they sit it out and risk a lower price and then have to hope the buyer actually turns up with the cash.
Sorry everyone, should have come back. THey did turn up. Turns out he was about 17yrs old (looked like a 12yr old) and just a bit stupid!
Anyway, money arrived, sofa gone and alls well.
Thank you for your advice.
