We keep getting leaflets through the door about Farm Foods and some of their offers look great but am dubious about their quality. Has any tried them and can you recommend them (or not as the case may be)
Thanks
I don't buy any meat from there as I question the quality, but I buy the same branded fish and vegetarian products in there that I would pay more for in the supermarket. Milk is also reasonably priced (£1), as is cheese (2 for £4). I can't do a full shop in there though. I would say it's worth a visit.
they do a lot of the bigger brands as well as their own brand - someof their own brand stuff can be hit or miss but overall the savings can outweigh everything else imo
I actually quite like their meat it's decent quality for the price I brought 10 pork loin chops for £3.45 and 1kg of mini chicken breast fillets for the same price last week. To be fair on our budget I really can't afford to buy free range or organic.
The veg is brilliant for the prices and we use a lot of it in veggie dishes like curry or chilli. The fish is good too 2 large bags of white fish or smoked haddock for £5. The bacon is very good 18 slices for £2.50
Honestly its a case of trial and error of what you like. If you sign up to email alerts for them you get 10% off vouchers every month
We fill up a big chest freezer for about £50 in there it's great
I used to buy milk and cheese from there all the time when I lived close by and was a student, they were cheap and fab. Also used to buy chicken nuggets in packs of 50 for those hungover mornings when only chicken nuggets will do.
Thanks. When I've emptied the freezer I think I'll give them a go.
Their lamb leg looks like fantastic value very tempted to try it
I think they sell Nicky toilet rolls in FF too, which are really good but cheap.
I've found with frozen meat it's how you cook it, I had a pork joint from aldi that was horrible cooked from frozen but lovely if cooked from defrosted in a covered tray.
Ff great for stocking up the freezer. They do have hovis bread for half the price of supermarkets and things like crumpets etc are branded too. They sell branded frozen foods as well as their own at much lower prices than elsewhere. Same with crisps, ice creams, drinks. Like everything it's trial and error but its definitely worth a look! I second what soft kitty said about the toilet roll! You would pay double for the same quality in the bigger supermarkets.
The pork loin steaks are great, and all the frozen veg, mini corn on cob etc.
WE just call in for certain things, but just try a different thing every week, if you like it change
I wouldn't buy any meat from them as none of it would be very poor quality and not ethically sourced, however Ive found them brilliant for stocking up on frozen bannana slices for making milkshakes.
Just popped in as it is near our soft play & I needed sugar. Got 2 bags of sugar (not named such as Tate & Lyle, but I don't think it matters) for £1.50, think they are about £1 each elsewhere.
Also got 12 cans of Pepsi for £3 (handy for taking on trips to park, save having to fork out in cafes
)
I think Farm Foods are fab. Over Christmas and New Year I swapped back to a different supermarket and hadn't done FF for a while. Went last week and was very pleasantly surprised what a huge amount I got for my money. Haven't found anything I can think of that we haven't liked. The meat may not be to some peoples "standard" but we buy it all the time as financially its great for us, and I have always been very pleased. Chicken fillets are great value, gammon is lovely, bacon is brill and they do a really nice gammon joint that we adore, veg, lollies etc are all super value. Will def be using there again more now re-found it.
