Amazon Prime free trial - easy to cancel before you even start!

I've just signed up for this (it means you get free one-day delivery for a month). As soon as you sign up, go to your Amazon Prime settings and click on "don't auto renew" or something similar and it means it won't automatically take money from your account when the free trial ends. If you want to continue it's £49 a year, which seems quite reasonable if you order a lot from them.

Thought it might be useful in the run-up to Christmas.

I've already cancelled mine, everything I ordered didn't qualify for Prime so I ended up paying postage anyhow.

Doesn't the 'don't auto renew' thing mean it won't update next year, rather than at the end of your free trial? I think to end it before the money comes out for the first time you have to cancel it.

I forgot to cancel mine at the end of the free trial and £49 came out of my bank, but because I hadn't used it since the payment came out they refunded it in full. I only signed up because I had to produce a cow costume with 48hrs notice for DSs school so I used the free next day delivery.

I think if you've got a kindle you can borrow books for free with amazon prime, which might save you plenty of money over the year.

alexrider I just did an order (well, tried- on my laptop for some reason it just won't load ) and I thought it was going to be like that too, because I ordered some 0.01 stuff with no "amazon prime" symbol next to them, but when it came up to one of the last screens it said "free next day delivery?" and I said YES of course, and so....? How come yours didn't work, did you follow it through for ages?


I think you can only get a book a month, which doesn't seem amazing really.

i got the free trial and decided to keep getting it as i think its worth it for next day delivery as i buy a fair bit from amazon

Depends what you buy, DH cancelled his as larger tech bits from odd suppliers didn't qualify.

I've been thinking about it. I buy from Amazon around once a fortnight and dd1 is looking at buying herself a kindle which means she gets access to the library, but I'd like to see what books are in the library before I order it.

I did the free trial and ended up keeping it as it is so useful.
I have done most of my Christmas shopping this way , birthdays and general stuff like buying toothbrush heads and next years calendar insert

All cheaper than the high street and delivered the next day .
I am studying atm and have NO time ( on my lunch break now )
If I factor in time ,petrol ,parking its a no brainer for me .
