Hello all
I'm applying to various universities for a place on a BA English and Creative Writing as a mature student.
I have written the first draft of a poem for part 1, but am struggling with part 2. My deadline for finishing is tomorrow night, as I have to post it on Tuesday.
Any ideas for getting rid of THE FEAR? I only have to write about 500 words, it should be easy but THE FEAR is making me stupid and my mind blank.
Any advice would be welcome.

What are they wanting from you? 500 words on what?
I have a Creative Writing MA and hand to give in a small portfolio. Is that what you have to do?

At first I thought it was a personal statement for UCAS, but evidently not if you're writing poetry.

God, I'm not great at poetry. Erm... there once was a girl called Sue, she couldn't cook anything but Stew...erm...
Have a glass of wine/some rescue remedy to relax you, this may help.

I think part 2 will be prose, belle.

We'll help if we can, OP, but we need to know what you've got to do.

There's a song by The Levellers called "The Fear" maybe listen to it/read the lyrics and then do the "background story" behind the song, as you see it. Don't forget to acknowlege the song though

Thanks everyone, I switched off the PC to write some notes and watch Black Mirror.
One of the universities I'm applying for have set their own assignments, which I only found out about last week. It would have been much easier to send in a portfolio.
Part 1. Write about a place where you grew up. Easy(ish) - dark poem about my childhood. Nearly done.
Part 2. Creative response to (extremely, extremely dull) medieval painting.
I'm going to channel the dullness and write about how a boy is learning about this painting in class and falls asleep.
Have you tried the 'Write or Die' application on the web? I've found it great for overcoming procrastination.
