Can you ovulate from an ovary with a cyst?

Hi, we are TTC after an ectopic pregnancy where I lost my right tube. I have a left sided pain that I think is probably an ovarian cyst (waiting for a scan). As this is my "good" side I wonder if I could still ovulate from that ovary? Any experience?

Hi, yes I think you can. How long have you had the pain? could it be ovulation pain rather than a cyst ?
I'd ask to find out wether you're ovulating from that side and they'll go from there.
Good luck.

Hi i had a cyst for 2 months and my Dr told me you could indeed still ovulate whilst having a cyst on that ovary.

But i agree with mummyloveslucy you should see if it could be ov pain? and yes good luck

hi, thanks for your replies. When it first started I would get it around the time of ovulation and I wondered if it was ovulation pain but it would last until the start of the next cycle. Now I have pain all the time. I've left it for a long time hoping it would go away but its got worse!

Mine was exactly the same, i kept getting the pain and thinking 'ooh it's that time' kind of thoughts and then it got worse and worse and lasted longer, i was sent for a scan and they saw that my ovary had collapsed and that the cyst had burst, and now it seems ok. So far!

good luck and let us know how you get on, best to get it sorted so at least you know where you are

Hi Bandanna, I am in same boat with pain (has been 6 weeks now) Had a scan which revealed nothing but a corpus luteal cyst (meaning I ovulated nothing abnormal) they are going to rescan in 6 weeks. They thought it was an infected fallopian tube and gave me antibiotics but the pain didnt go away.

Bah!
Hope you find out what yours is.
