Just wondering......has anyone tried any of the theories about concieveing a boy or a girl?

You know, the whole having sex a week before you ovulate for a girl or eating certain foods for a boy etc....

Really interested as there is so much talk of the web and I just can't believe its true! Someone prove me wrong!

gawd here we go againg grin
I reckon i did, as i knew what day i conceived my two boys, so went quite a bit (4 days) earlier in the cycle and got my girl wink
now many will tell you it works, and many will tell you it doesnt .... but it did for me.

Sorry, has this thread been on a lot?!
So did you stop having sex 4 days before? I always feel guilty for talking about this, I love my boy to bits! Just want a bit of a balanced house hold!

don't feel guilty, I think it is understandable - check out this for lots of info - you might not be able to do anything about the odds but you might feel happier if you felt you'd tried something.. or it might work... its all a gamble really smile

don't feel guilty, goldilocks wink
I jst decided to try fiddling with the odds a bit, err, as it were! Yes, plenty of it til day xx, at that point you stop for that cycle. I read Hazel Chestermann-philips book, as i say i reckon it worked for me - i was so sure of my conception dates with the boys tho, and by the time we got round to having baby no3 I knew my cycle absolutely inside-out. Bad choice of phrase there hmm You get the gist.

Thanks gigglewatch! Would you have been disappointed if it didn't work? Sounds terrible I know sorry.......

no i think you have to make your mind up as to whether you want another dc anyway, and not set your heart on one 'flavour' if that sounds even possible. no harm in trying to manipulate the odds if you can, but i know i'd have loved to have a --football-team-- boy too. If you only want a child of one gender then it is the wrong track to take. Sounds harsh, but face it too. Two boys is fab, they fight play together all the time. Obv I do understand your wanting a girl as of course i've done it!
gawd do i make any sense at all?

goldilocks, I have 4 boys, no girl but hey, we've had fun trying!grin That theory did not work for any of my boys, they were all conceived well before ovulation. And I knew my cycle very well and was very regular. I think that maybe, it might possibly swing the odds slightly but IMO, knowing all the people in RL and on MN who have tried it, I'd say it's more likely 55:45 than 90:10
I was pretty gutted when I found out ds4 was a boy but that had a lot to do with my SIL having a girl 2 days before my scan and calling her "my" girl name. Once you have the baby in your arms, you really can't help but love them.
