Hello ladies, I'm sure there must be others of you in the same boat as me out there and would like opinions...
My next period should be due on 26th December, this is my first month of ttc #2, now I have been considering buying some first response or other sensitive sticks to pee on, and testing on Christmas morning. Obviously if it is positive it will be a lovely Christmas present for myself and DP but if it's negative then it might put a bit of a downer on Christmas Day. As its only the first month I obviously won't be a crying wreck all day but I will be disappointed. Also as I'd be testing a bit early it could still come up positive after Christmas and then I'd have been disappointed for nothing.
So wise ttc mumsnetters, wwyd or what are you planning on doing if you are in the same boat?
I have been thinking about this although its different for me as I have been TTC for over 3.5 years. I keep thinking I don't want to ruin my Christmas but in the back of my mind I keep thinking how magical it would be if I finally got that BFP. Will watch with interest.
Oh and good luck whatever you do
Good luck to you too, I really hope you finally get your ultimate Christmas gift this year!!
I think I would want to test on Christmas day. It would make a lovely story and be an amazing gift for you and your DH. Just try not to get your hopes up too much. If it is a BFN you can tell yourself it might just be too early to show and distract yourselves with all the Christmas activities. Good Luck!
Snap this is me too
Period due 26th dec. have actually already bought first response tests (ahem and Internet cheapies and clearblue digi) which are sat in drawer waiting..I think I may well cave and test with the FR on Xmas day as it would be great to know. I've already got 2 dc so they would keep me busy enough if it was negative, and also I think as we would be testing early it wouldn't be super disappointing as you know it could still turn out positive on boxing day, or the next day, etc.
And there's always the mountains of food to eat too!
Ooh ooh me too! Af due on about the 27th. First cycle TTC after miscarriage. Obviously will be gutted if no BFP, but kinda figure Christmas cheer may help? Hmmm, decisions decisions!
Due on the 25th. I'm going to test as if its positive brilliant but although i will be very dissapointed if negative, at least I can have a drink (I abstain during the 2ww), which at the very least will stop the speculating by my dsis and sm.
OP As it's only your 1st month I'd test on Christmas Day, exciting!
My period's due on Christmas eve or the day itself so I think I'll be doing a test before then. this is our 13th cycle ending and I do feel so sad for a day or so when AF comes so I want to have warning so as get any upset out of the way before we go to stay with family. For some unknown reason I get my hopes up each month even eg last month when we didn't really manage to have sex at the right time due to DH being away!
Not really looking forward to Christmas this year, hard to think past wanting to be pregnant. My DH keeps asking me what I'd like for Christmas and all I want to say is a baby!
You lot are very persuasive! I didn't even think about the alcohol part but a nice glass (or 5) of mulled
will definitely ease the disappointment, and it will be my first year hosting Christmas at our house for the family so I will have plenty to keep me busy.
I really hope to hear we will all be bfp buddies!!!
moggle and pinkfairy I'm sorry to hear you're struggling, I know nobody can understand unless they've been through it but I have a close friend who has and seeing her pain reminds me how cruel ttc can be for some people!
Can anyone recommend a good website to get a deal on first response or these Internet cheepies I hear so much about on here?
Hi preposterous, I use amazon for the cheapies and the first response - think I got 15 cheapies for 2.80 or something and 2 first response for about £7. Just do a search for them on amazon 'one step pregnancy test'.
It would be great to all get an Xmas bfp!
I feel awful, really sick and tummy cramps (defo not reproduction related cramps) they are stomach as in digestive system cramps. Have a horrible feeling it might be that horrid norovirus coming, yuck
I'm due between 23-25th. Going to test Boxing Day if it hasn't turned up before then.
Me too. Due between 23rd and 25th. Thinking about testing before then, which I NEVER do (this is my third time of TTC - took 9 months first time and 6 the second, so I've done this a fair few times!).
Haven't even had a positive OPK this month, but I do have very sensitive boobs.
A BFP this month, wouldn't just be a Christmas present for me, but also due date would be around my 40th birthday so a double whammy!
Fingers crossed for lovely Christmas BFPs for us all.
With DD, I was due on Dec 26th. I didn't test until 27th as we stayed at my DParents on Boxing Day. Tbh I was convinced I wasn't anyway, so the BFP was a bit of a shock.
Two years later, I'm ttc DC#2, and AF is due on the 26th
. I'm not sure if I will wait until the 27th again, I don't want to spoil Christmas. I probabley will wait liar liar pants of fire
Good luck op
10 years ago I was due on Christmas Eve.... But got too drunk & forgot until Christmas Day night that AF hadn't arrived.
So Boxing Day morning made DH drive half way round Northumberland looking for a chemist!!
Fabulous Boxing Day present
I caved and bought some First Response (3 tests for the price of 2 in Boots at the moment, just in case anyone's interested...). I'm still going to try to hang on though.
