Most accurate/best Pregnancy tests?

(17 Posts)

I got a BFP this morning smile. But obviously I am assuming it is too good to be true and daren't get my hopes up. But say if I did want to do a gazillion a couple more tests as proof, what brands should I go for? Is the digital one that tells you how pregnant you are the best one?

TIA

Superdrug early tests, I am reliably informed (by MN talk experts - who else?!!) are very sensitive.

The digital ones aren't as sensitive I believe & can cause anxiety if the date doesn't appear/comes up late/is wrong etc.

But a line is a line is a line. False +ves are v rare & only likely if you are on cross-reacting medication.

Good luck!

If you've got a line it's very unlikely you've got a false + so congratulations!!!!!. I know you'll want reassurance tho so I'd suggest first response. They seem to pick up the hcg quicker than other brands.

Ooh thats what I used! The superdrug early response one! Thanks so much for your response.

I was taking Clomid this month, my first month at 100mg, do you know if that could cause a false positive?

Thank you both. i am grin and shock and every thing in between.

I don't have any symtoms at all though? Boobs feel fine, don't feel sick, don't feel tired, nothing out of the ordinary. I don't think I'll beleive until I've done a zillion tests or we have a scan, whichever comes first!!!

Just to add thought this might be useful: www.peeonastick.com

No clomid can't give false + , only hcg injections can do that. Oh and dandelion and burdock -according to Victoria Wood grin. Congrats again!

I took Clomid both times to become pg, never heard of it giving a false +.

Congratulations!

Congratulations OP!

Another vote for the superdrug ones here! Got a BFP 4days early here so super sensitive!! Xx

Thank you all. I am so happy but so scared. What if I've got my hopes up for nothing? What if it doesn't stick? I'm so scared. My first BFP in 16 months TTC.

I'll keep you posted.

I got a positive 3 days early on a Superdrug. They are pretty much as good as First response at that stage. Looking at the current size of my belly, I can say that the test was most definitely accurate! All tests are at least 99% accurate, even the super cheap dipstick ones. Just some are more sensitive than others.
The digital ones with the conception indicator are an evil marketing ploy to make you go mental and spend lots and lots of money. Try to resist if you can.

I would be hypocritical to tell you not to do a gadzillion more tests, I understand the urge and most of my expertise with stick pissing comes from doing a very thorough comparison of all the tests on the market. But, if you are just doing more tests for the joy and reassurance of seeing two pink lines, go to poundland and get the cheap packs from there. At least it will only cost you 50p a pop.

Congratulations smile

Thanks Kat. When did you start to believe that you were really pregnant? After a zillion tests, or not until the scan?

I just can't seem to let myself beleive it might really be happening.

I've had six scans so far this pregnancy (prior losses and other ishoos plus a private scan for 4d), I have a baby wriggling away inside me and I STILL have moments when I find it hard to believe that I am having a baby!

I relaxed a bit after a reassurance scan at 9 weeks. Seeing is believing and all that.

Thanks Kat, I'm so sorry to hear of your previous losses, wishing you lots of luck with this pregnancy. I think we will go for an early scan because I know I won't beleive it otherwise!

I've just had an early BFP with our 2nd DC, & I can't quite believe it, despite already having been through it once. I think we only told certain people at first because we were worried it wouldn't 'stick' but at the 12wk scan, it put our minds at rest & we then on just assumed it would work out. Although DH still didn't want to buy anything for the baby until the last minute, and we had nothing in the house until a week or two before my DD arrived!! I can't quite believe I've got lucky again this time... Am a bit in shock
