BBT takers, should I buy a new thermometer??

Temps have been almost exactly the same for the past 8 days since AF started. This is completely different to up and down nature of the last month. Can this be right or should I buy a new one??

I retook my temp an hour after waking this morning and it was 36.45 so it obviously can read higher temps.

What do you think??

My chart

Oh, I am using the Boots own one.

Ha Terry's - maybe it's a bug in Boot's BBT themometers! Mine's been the same (with a little variation, but not as much as I'd usually expect). I'm putting it down to the fact that on days when I'd usually expect a temp dip (a few days pre-ov for me) the weather's been really cold so I've adjusted the heating and put an extra duvet on the bed. Might be a total irrelevance, but I'd be interested in others' thoughts!

InTheSunshine · 19/11/2010 17:43

Mine was the same for about 6 days in a row earlier this month. My needles woman said it was quite normal.

chocciechip · 19/11/2010 17:56

I keep a second thermometer that I use to occasionally double-check if I think one is playing up. I'd check, if I were you. But it is possible to 'flat-line'... if you have a look through the 'flat temperatures' charts on fertility friend and you'll see a few where temps stayed the same for days on end.

Wombat33 · 19/11/2010 18:10

Any idea what it indiicates bosy-wise Choccie if your temps flat-ine?

Wombat33 · 19/11/2010 18:11

Sorry, that should be 'body-wise'.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 19/11/2010 18:28

Mine was static for 3 days in a row ths month, mine is also Boots own.
For it to be exactly spot on the same temp dows make you wonder.

TerrysNo2 · 19/11/2010 18:46

Hmmm, for peace of mind maybe I'll buy another one tomorrow....

9 days in a row of near perfect temps is a bit odd. Confused

Just had a look at your chart terrys I agree it looks odd to have such a flat run of temps. But surely if the battery was going it would be faint? And also the readings are not all exactly the same either, which is weird.

I've got the boots one too, been using it for 3 years and it's still going strong!

May be worth getting another one just to double check.

TerrysNo2 · 19/11/2010 20:51

I might see if I can convince the staff in boots to swap it tomorrow!

Hi you lot (lots of familiar faces in here!)Grin

feel free to throw your themometers at me if I am totally off mark with this comment... but are you sure you are not reading the default temp setting? Are you all getting 36.45? Some themometers show the default if you dont switch them off correctly, mine you have to press and hold and then it stores the last read temp, but if you dont it shows the default.

GetDownYouWillFall · 20/11/2010 15:31

Mine flashes up the last reading for a second or two and then displays the default reading - 36.50 in my case.

It's a good point MummyinEngland because I made that mistake at the beginning. I think Terrys has been charting for a while though, so don't think she could be making this mistake...

terrys? What were your temps like today?

MummyinEngland · 20/11/2010 16:32

Yeah, 36.45 is a bit random too....

TerrysNo2 · 20/11/2010 18:51

I wondered what the 36.50 was as that always comes up!! Thanks for solving that puzzle!! Smile But that's when I turn it on - it goes, last temp taken then 36.50.

Today DS woke up at 4.50 so I took it and it was 35.92, I retook it again (can't remember what time) and it was 36.4 or something similar (was half asleep and just doing it out of interest).

So I will keep using it, and I didn't get to boots today.

Still Confused!! Grin

I know, it's weird, I don't know why it always comes up with 36.50 on the Boots one. I read somewhere it was your "average" temp, but I don't think that can be right!

At least it seems your thermometer is working properly and it can give you different readings.

You were obviously just highly accurate in your charting for the last week or so!
