Have namechanged because people in RL know who I am on here and I don't want this to be public knowledge :)
I'm not ttc, and have only used a pregnancy test once, 10yrs ago!
My period is 3 days late, I didn't really think I could be pregnant, am not on the pill but have used contraception. I just tested to rule it out before I considered other reasons for the missing period.

The test was a clearblue one, I have no idea how reliable they are. I read it after 5 mins, it says in the leaflet you can read it up to 10 so it was in time. I have the stupidest thread thin vertical line on the cross part. It doesn't look anything like the example pictures in the leaflet and I'm baffled Confused

I reckoned someone here would definitely know what was going on and could help before I go spend even more money on tests!

Have taken a pic is here

Please help, am slightly freaking out that it could be positive Blush

I would vote positive...

stottiecake · 30/08/2010 13:04

I would say you are pregnant but I would go and get another test to be sure!

hippychick66 · 30/08/2010 13:07

Sorry that is just too inconclusive to say. i think you're definitely gonna have to get another test to be sure. good luck.

secretperson10 · 30/08/2010 13:09

Bugger, another test then. Is there a better one I should be buying? More reliable one? Should I wait until tommorrow to do it?

I'd also go with positive, it's the right colour, the only problem is the width and that could be a mistake with the test printing machine thingy that adds the strip of stuff...looks like it added a thin strip not a thick strip!

Congrats Smile are you OK with being pg, if you are?

hippychick66 · 30/08/2010 13:15

I agree the line is very thin. I know they cost a fortune but I'd go for one that says the word - pregnant or not pregnant. At least there would be no doubt.

secretperson10 · 30/08/2010 13:17

I really don't know FA, I'm single, this would be the result of a casual thing Blush I have no idea what he would think about it. I have no idea what I think about it actually. I never expected to have any more DC at all.
I think I need to just know for sure first, without any doubt and then think about it.

I did not read your OP, and my first reaction was negative. I would wait two days and then test again, if you are pregnant then your hormone levels should be high enough by then to give a clear positive.

BythewayItsStillMe · 30/08/2010 13:20

There's definitely a line... but if it was me I'd be testing again just to check.

But then I did 5 tests when I was pregnant with DS so I'd probably do another test anyway! Blush

Flighttattendant · 30/08/2010 13:23

Secretperson, I hope you will feel OK about it and the bloke will be OK too.

You prob know I've been in your position before! Smile

I would go and get a couple of cheapy ones from wilkinsons or a supermarket and try one of those- if nothing, try again tomorrow or next day.

First response is meant to give a good result up to 6 days before you're due so it is high sensitivity. They are a fiver or more each though.

Flighttattendant · 30/08/2010 13:24

Hippychick - I suppose it could always say something like 'well you might be pregnant' instead, that would really be annoying Grin

suiledonne · 30/08/2010 13:24

Looks positive to me. I tested ludicrously early in both pregnancies (several days before period due) as was TTC and have no patience and this is what my positive tests looked like. A few days later I got a clearer line.

Wanderingsheep · 30/08/2010 13:30

It looks exactly like the Clearblue test I did 11 weeks ago! I'm 14+2 weeks pregnant!

I did another Clearblue the next morning that was darker!

Eglu · 30/08/2010 13:33

I would get one of the cheap tests from the pound shop. They tend to be very sensitive.

laughalot · 30/08/2010 13:36

Expensive but go for the pregnant/ not pregnant. Good luck

secretperson10 · 30/08/2010 13:41

Really wandering? I have to stop procrastinating and go get another test, I'll go to the supermarket now and do another test in the morning and see what that says.

I'll come back and let you all know, thanks for the help :)

looks pregnant to me.

MummyAbroad · 30/08/2010 14:04

Try to use your wee from first thing in the morning, or hold it in for four hoursn before doing the test. That way the pregnancy hormone levels (if there are any) will be more concentrated.

How close to your period are you? (or how late?) If you are over week late you should expect a stronger line, but if this is before your period is due or just after a thin line would makes sense and mean very early pregnancy (not enough hormone built up yet to show)

LittleSilver · 30/08/2010 19:28

I got EXACTLY that kind of line from that test. It came up straightaway. I rang the careline ( have you done that?) and got an umming woman on the phone who sent me a replacement digi and I returned the other one (keep the lot no on the packet). It was neg btw. I hope that's helpful?

sorrento56 · 30/08/2010 19:30

IMO inconclusive but not a definite negative so another test needs doing.

LittleSilver · 30/08/2010 19:34

Oh yes, I would say inconclusive too, def try a different brand. Superdrug own brand has always been brilliant imho.

hippychick66 · 30/08/2010 19:47

I think we'll all be checking in on you tomorow morning.Grin All the best. hope it works out the way that's best for you.

hippychick66 · 30/08/2010 19:49

ps. You did a rubbish job of being secret - flightattendent already seems to know who you are! Smile

BackOnceAgain · 30/08/2010 19:51

I hate clearblue, they didn't clear up anything blue in my case. Tesco cheapies all the way Smile

Nemofish · 30/08/2010 19:53

That's a negative result OP

You are reading the window on the LEFT - this has a horizontal line which is clearly neg. If it was a pos it would be a CROSS

the window on the left is called the 'control' - it is there to show the test is functioning.

I think you are misreading the test.

it is NEGATIVE

Sorry OP Sad
