Im wondering because one of DS's friends had it a couple of weeks ago, and its going round at his pre-school too. He woke up Friday with about 5 small-ish red spots, now has about 9 but they are still not that big and nowhere else except his buttocks/lower back. Too small for flea bites I would say. TIA for any comments.
Of my three girls (who all had it the same time), one was plastered, one had a good covering the other had about 10 in total

I was 15 when I got it and only had a few spots (less than 10)

Ds1 had no more than 20 over his whole body. Ds2 had it a couple of weeks later and was covered from the soles of his feet to his scalp.

Sounds a real poss then. Is there any idiot proof way of being more sure this is it? He hasnt been poorly at all so all seems odd. I dont want to quarantine us if there is no need tbh. Docs I guess..?
Yes. Two of mine did. The other three were covered!
Have you googled to look at images of chicken pox spots - they seem quite easily identifiable.
My friend's DD had chicken pox a few months ago and only had about 20 spots - however my DS who most likely caught it off her was covered - have read that a mild case can be passed on more severely, and vice versa but you never know.

I only had a few spots with chicken pox and wasn't really unwell. The only 'unwell' thing was that I lost my appetite for one evening... most unusual! Mum couldn't keep me out of the kitchen until I was in my late teens

Have googled for pictures and blimey, nothing like that, that was scary!! But they all seem quite severe examples so still not too sure...no doubt I shall know in time!
Yes, dd only had about 20 spots max. And they all appeared literally before my eyes in the bath. Very small spots, I knew it was chicken pox because it was going round nursery and she was incredibly ill with a temperature for 2 days before they appeared, which was the worst bit imo. Once the spots showed she felt much better
DO not go to the drs if you suspect chicken pox btw- it can be really serious for immuno suppressed people and the last thing they want you bringing into the waiting room. Definately try and stay inside if you even suspect it
