My friend's DD (3 years) collapsed on Wednesday, suffering respiratory and total cardiac arrest, caused by croup. Fortunately, the paramedics fought and were able to resusitate her, but she remains in a high dependancy unit in a serious condition. They are deciding whether to ventilate her or not. Apparently, this is the most serious case of croup the hospital have ever seen.
My heart goes out to her parents and hope that good wishes from MN will get them through.
Be brave Sky.

How horrible. Sending good wishes to her and to her parents.
My thoughts are with Sky & her family.
My DD currently has croup and upper respitory infection its so bad to see them like this knowing we can't do anything
I know, my DD (7 months) has just got over it too, she took it very mildly but scary nevertheless.
OTM - hope your DD is feeling much better now.
My DD aged 4.8yrs has a paedatric referral on file at the GPs if she gets really bad. every winter she has something wrong with her chest, just hate seeing her this way. this is when i look forward to the warmer weather.
Thanks MM, she seems much better although still have quite a chesty cough but shes happy, eating well and is extremely cheeky so I guess she is on the mend!
Hope your DD gets over this soon. Does she get croup often? Hopefully, she will grow out of it soon.
Ahh if shes got her cheekyness back then she must be on the mend LOL!
My DD gets croup alot, along with Chest Infections & tonsilitus, also has suffered with viral form of bronchitis
. Always suffered since birth in the colder weather illnesses goes straight to her chest. So have paedatric referral to go straight to childrens A&E and childrens ward at our hospital if she goes floppy.

Thoughts are with Sky and her family. DD had croup at 18 months and was hospitalised, it was the most scarey thing i have ever experienced, luckily she recovered well. She has had it since then, about 3 months ago, and she is 3 years old too, luckily she got it mildly this time, this story has made me realise how lucky.
Hope she mends fast and strong x
had to take DS to A&E late one night last winter with croup scariest few hours of my life - I don;t know how parents of childrne with serious lung condition cope with it.
Good luck Sky
Had heard stories of kids being hospitalised by it before, but not to this extent. I certainly won't be looking forward to my DD's next round of croup. Luckily last time, the worst it got was my DH sitting in the bathroom with her periodically through the night at an hour a go for about 6 nights. Will definitely be more diligent next time.
