still not 100% right after antibiotics....

Hello!

I wondered if anyone could offer me any advice... My 19 month daughter has been having a string of infections (throat, ear, and most recent chest)...having had yet another course of antibiotics for the chest infection (which were apparantly quite strong), she thankfully has a clear chest again. However, she's finshed the antibiotics now (yesterday), but still does not seem back to herself totally in terms of she's not eating or drinking much and then I guess because of this has quite low energy levels.

She's OK, so I dont want to take her back to the docs, just wondered if it is just her still getting over the illness and will take a few more days or whether I should be on the look out for something else...

Thanks for any tips. Oh and if anyone had any advice on whether 4 infections in 3 months is highly unusual please let me know...my doctor insists it is nothing to worry about. I think she has a bit of a weakness in that area as she did have bad reflux when she was born,

Thanks a lot!

if she has had three lots of ABx in three months, that alone will make her feel run down. And the infections will knock her for 6 too. They may not be bacterial and if they are viral the ABx wont help anyway. They dont just zap the bad bugs...they also knock out the good ones. Has she had three different Abx or all the same?

Give her quite alot more time to recover and plenty of rest.

i can imagine you have done this already, but i would work on building up the immune system with her as her immune system will be down and she will be finding it harder to fight off bugs.

Hope she feels better soon!!

We have our 5 yr old here getting cough after cough its driving us spare!! She had antbx and has been off them a few weeks so i find it maddening that she has got a cough again!! We will be working on multi vits and fish oil to build up her immune system.

yeah trying to build her system - but difficult when she is being super fussy about fruit and veg !! I even pureed some last night and have hidden it in cheese sauce - hopefully that should work. Also giving her vitamin boost with miniadex which I hope will help.

She actually has been much better the last few days, but I know its just a matter of time before the next one...

does anyone ever try and ride it out and not get antibiotics ? Just thinking I dont really want her to have another set for at least 6 months but I dont know if that just makes everything worse..
