painful red spot on top of head

DD (5) has been having a red spot on top of her head for maybe 2 weeks. It's not raised or anything, it's just that a small coin-sized area of her scalp is red in colour. She says it hurts when it's pressed.

Saw a paediatrician a week and a half ago and he wasn't entirely sure what it was but thought it might be an insect bite and her skin was sensitive. He gave fucicort cream to apply, and I haven't been applying religiously, but the spot is still there.

Does anyone know what it might be? Should I go back to him? Or try another paediatrician. Or a skin specialist??

yikes didn't realise there were lots of variables. it's behind the lobe i think, am at work now so am trying to recollect oh and it's skin coloured. but took her to a gp yesterday, and he said it was a bacterial infection? and gave her antibiotics. but he said it had nothing to do with the spot on her head, which he referred us to a dermatologist for....
