DS is 12, he has a large bump on his head.......

He can't remember bumping it and it has been like this for a few weeks.It is towards the back on the very top. He says it doesn't really hurt, but he does play a lot of football, so it could be a result of heading the ball. Should I be worried? Do I get it looked at or do you think he is just made this way?

would imagine it's a normal part of puberty. his horns are just starting to poke through.

No medical experience at all, but I would get it looked at just for peace of mind, nothing to lose.

is it in the middle? orto one side? you can get swollen glands around the back of your head. or is it a bit squishy and moveable? like a cyst?
think i'd watch for a few days and if not gone down then get it checked by dr.

No its solid. Right on the top towards the back. I have been watching it for a while and there it doesnt seem to change.

might be nothing.....I have one on my temple, and my doc says it is a normal overgrowth of bone, and nothing to fret about.

tis better to check tho with a doctor.

i had one of these for about six weeks iirc. it hurt when i touched it but it just went on it's own in the end. was very odd.

no, he had a feel, and as it was hard and non-movable he said it was bone.

had it been in any way movable or press-able-down-able(not a medical term but forgive me, I cannot remember what he said) then he would have referred me for a scan. it has been there for a lonf time tho, so I wonder if I had a very hard bump that triggered an extra frenzied healing attack IYGWIM.
