What's best for 3month old with sticky eyes?

DD has had sticky eyes for quite a few weeks now. Generally Ok during day, but they get quite gunky overnight.

Have found that when i leave them well alone they seem to clear up OK, and it's when I occationally clean them with cooled boiled water that they get worse!! (yes I am wiping them from tear ducts out with seperate cotton wool etc)

any ideas? they outer edge crease of here eyes look quite sore today (which i suspect is following on from cleaning them yesterday)

Are you breastfeeding? If so, squirt some breastmilk into her eye, works really well.
