Hi I'm desperately seeking advice as my little one has started getting eczema on her face it started as a small patch on one cheek now there are a few patches on both cheeks which flare up from time to time.
Gp prescribed centraben to try and some bath emollient it seems to work sometimes... But I'm worried it seems to get progressively worse not better.
I'm now wondering is this due to introducing cows milk bed time bottle rather than formula? I've also read it might be due to wheat?
If anyone has experience or advice it would be welcomed!
Also might be worth mentioning that neither myself or her farther have it!

still a glitch on MN where OPs aren't showing until someone else posts.

Ah, here we are. Sorry about that, I am sure MNHQ will sort it out soon.

Can you ask the GP for a referral to a dermatologist to get a second opinion? I think that might be a good first move.

My Ds had eczema on his cheeks as a baby too. In fact, it was so bad at one point that strangers stopped us in the street thinking that something terrible had happened to him. I was still breast feeding but was advised to cut out dairy, (and eggs and chocolate) from my diet and the worst of the eczema on his face went very quickly. He continued to have problems over the years but none as bad as then. At one point, he reacted with a flare up to skin contact with milk on the strap of a baby seat in a supermarket trolley.

In fact he is an atopic child (now teenager) and is still allergic to cows milk protein, eggs and we are still uncertain about nuts.

We had all the creams and saw a dermatologist, but it was allergic reactions that were the trigger. Also, house dust mites. You can buy protective covers for mattresses and was all bedding on 60degrees.

The doctors are often against removing milk from the diet but you could as a first step try putting a couple of drops of milk on her skin and see if there is a change..reddening, small bumps itchiness etc.

Good luck.

Hello! Thanks so much for the replies! Typically my phone breaks whilst we are in the middle of switching broadband providers so I was gasp unable to access any internet! May have been a blessing in disguise as my endless googling of baby rashes were making me crazy.
Anyhow I was so worried I took her back to gp today and have been given 2 different creams wich in all adds up to six applications of cream a day! However upside is that after 2 applications already eczema is barely noticeable and gp seems sure that it is something she will grow out of. Phew!!!
Thanks for your writing back. Sometimes it just helps to have put it out there and hear something encouraging in response Smile
I think my little sweetheart is going to be ok!
