My 8yr old son keeps peeing, shall I take him to the doctors?

He pee'd last night and I just sent him to brush his teeth with his younger brother, he got 3 steps up the stairs and pee'd.

He's in a stable home, no problems, very clever child. He's quite highly strung,

but nothing going on in medical terms.

I just don't know why he does it :(

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Pee's the bed I mean, and he's done it a few times at school too, I'm worried the kids will pick up on it if he continues.

If this is a new problem then def take him to dr as he may well have a urine infection.

Is he very thirsty as well? If so, yes. Excessive thirst and urination can be a sign of Type 1 diabetes (that's how my DS was diagnosed). Ask for a fingertip blood sugar test.

Fingers crossed it will be nothing, but worth ruling out. I hope he will be OK.

No its not new, he's always pee'd the bed, hes just still not grown out of it, I can kind of understand it at night, but instances like just now?! Surely at 8 he should be able to recognise he needs to go?

Yes, I would go to the doctor, you need to get to the bottom of it. Does he have dry days ever?

TomHardysPinky · 26/01/2013 19:06

Yes he does have dry days, but he probably pees the bed twice a week?

Its rarer that he pee's in the day though, but still happens.

I think you need to go to docs & ask for referral to continence specialist.
