My ds has a red, sore penis.

My ds is six and complained earlier that his penis was sore. I had a look and it did look red around the foreskin.

He had this when he was a toddler and the gp gave me some anti-fungal cream and said I didn't need to pull the foreskin back to wash it.

My ds washes himself now and has a bath every otber night. I wondered if he should be washing under the foreskin as my dh does.

Sorry, I am clueless! My dh is not much help

Yes he should be so long as the foreskin retracts with ease. It should never be forced.
