Apologies if this subject has been around a lot, but really in need of advice.
My son is 9 months and cutting his first teeth. Until the last week or so he was a great eater. However, it's now a real struggle to get him to eat him anything. Even yoghurt and weetabix, which are our emergency foods for when he won't eat. He barely ate breakfast, ate a tiny lunch and just nibbled on a breadstick for dinner.
I don't want to make an issue of it with him, but am worried it's going to turn him into a fussy eater. Am I getting too worried about this? Has anyone got any advice?

As long as he is drinking don't worry, keep offering meals at normal times and he will eat when ready.
Teething gel and calpol just before meal times may help to

Thanks, Sirzy. Will try Calpol before meals, see if that improves things.

A little gel on his mouth about 5/10 minutes before meals may help, rather than Calpol which tends to make my DS sleepy. We are going through teething too, thankfully one of his top ones came through yesterday and the difference in appetite has been amazing already.
We just increased milk, very cold yoghurt, kept all his food really cold and on the days he wouldnt take it (and there were many) I didn't force it, figuring he wouldn't let himself starve.
Good luck.

Tried teething gel and infant iboprufen - neither of them make a difference. He ate a good breakfast, but refusing lunch. He'll only suck on spelt biscuits and breadsticks. Have tried to get him to suck on a stick of cucumber and other veg/fruit, but he just won't take it. He wouldn't drink much of his milk either and won't take yoghurt, which he normally loves.
I don't really know what to do - don't want to get meals out of the freezer only for them to end up in the food bin.
There are two bottom teeth cutting, which I am guessing is the root cause of this.

I would persevere, it's so hard when they don't want your food, but sometimes he'll take some and sometimes not. If the food gets wasted then I guess it's going to happen. I do think just trying helps to keep the whole 3 meals thing alive in their head, even if they eat very little. He won't let himself starve.
If its any consolation, my DS has cut 3 teeth since y'day and his appetite has returned with a vengeance so it will happen.
I've found Nelsons powders invaluable.

Soup soup and more soup....
My wee one loses his appetite when his teeth are on the move. But i have a stash of various home-made soups on the freezer for those days.... I freeze the soup in ice cube trays then empty them into a big food bag, so I can easy offer 2-3 cubes and give him more if he finishes that, therefore im not wasting much....and a slice of brown bread to eatplaywith
good luck
