Possible silly topic, but just to make sure I'm doing everything I can...

- Vicks / Albos Oil (will be buying tomorrow)
- Calpol
- Wiping nose and putting Lansinoh on it to stop it cracking - poor lad looks like Rudolf!
- Rehydration sachets in house just in case.
- Extra layer with windows open at night
- Lots of cuddles
- Lots of milk
- Keep bathing sticky eye

Anything else? This is the first cold he's had. He's amazingly grouchy and unsettled. Should pass soon though, right?

Prop up the head end of the cot.
you can get one of those things to suction snot out of his nose if needed, or saline drops to help it clear.
Are you breastfeeding? He might find more upright positions more comfortable.

What would I prop the head of the cot up on? Would books be okay?

A suction thingy is on my list to buy for tomorrow! Should I get saline drops as well? He has always been a very snuffly baby but he has a runny nose.

Is it still okay to nurse laying down? I've been trying to cut out the co-sleeping (usually from his 3/4am feed) but thinking I might leave it a week or so.

Yes to books, that's what I use.
I'm sure it is fine to nurse lying down but mine seemed to find it easier if they were more upright when I fed them and they had blocked noses. Whatever works for you both.

If you're getting a suction-thingy it might still be worth getting the drops because they make the snot more runny and easier to remove.

Tixylix saline nasal drops are good for clearing the congestion. They don't like them being put in, but they do work. Digusting I know, but we used to suck out DD's snot lightly ourselves, should've bought the suction thingy

careful with vicks, camphor can be dangerous for babies, make sure you get the baby-vicks, snuffle baby or similar.
saline nose drops are fine and that sucktion thing is good, too. if you bf you can use a few drops of milk to free baby*s nose.
