i know i have seen in one of other pics but can not find it, am i panicking for nothing?

Probably - but that doesn't make it less scary. I was concerned about a photo of dd and took her to the walk in clinic at the Moorfields in London - we live fairly nearby.
She was absolutely fine but they thought she might have a slight squint (which can cause eyes to look different on photos). They kept an eye on her for a few years and then discharged her.

Why not pop her in to your local opticians?

I'm sure she will be fine.

On the one hand, you are almost certainly worrying about nothing. This effect can be caused by a number of photography-related factors.

However, it is one possible sign of retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina). I strongly suggest you do not google this (saying this makes it practically impossible I know - sorry) because it scared the shit out of me.

My MIL gave me a photo of our DS in which he had one white eye. I was terrified, having only read about retinoblastoma fairly recently. However, we went to our doctor, who gave him a very thorough examination and talked us through everything in detail and she gave him the all clear.

Therefore, I would suggest you pop along to your doctor and get your DD checked out. It's really unlikely to be anything to worry about, but there's no harm in checking it out.

Get it checked out, definitely. Try not to panic about it - it's possible that the flash just hit her optic nerve (which produces that effect too, apparently - happened with my dd).
I'd ring your local optician, and see what they advise. They may be able to check her themselves, and if not, they'll know where to take her.

thank you i will i am trying not to worry, but we do worry dd as an undiagnosed illness since birth

trace2 Thu 26-Aug-10 16:59:12

we have checked other pics and same as happened but not in all

whydobirdssuddenlyappear Thu 26-Aug-10 17:30:17

Definitely, definitely get it looked at, and as soon as possible. It will help whoever is looking at her if you take copies of the pictures showing the white eye when you go to see them.
Fingers crossed for you that it's nothing.

i will but dh says i feel daft taking her pics saying is this white eye

CoinOperatedGirl Thu 26-Aug-10 17:38:06

I had this with ds2, was in more than one pic but not all. Spent the weekend panicking and then took him to the opticians, who said everything looked ok, he then refered us to the dr, who referred us to the hospital. It took 6 weeks for the appointment to come through, but he came out all clear, but apparently shortsighted hmm.

Get it checked but try not to panic(pot and kettle) sure it will be fine.

Tell your dh they will take you seriously. They will thank you for bringing copies of the pics. They leave them in the child's file after they've been seen (at least they did with DD). Don't feel daft at all. It really is not worth not getting it checked out, just to be on the safe side.

they will take you seriously. My sister called me and said she had a picture of DD2 with white eye and was worried. We spoke to GP who advised us to get an older ditical camera, turn off lights and use flash and take some more photos. Same thing happened. Turns out DD2 has a rugby shaped eye instead of round and that throws off werid reflections, so somedays is nothing. BUT do go and get it checked out. We went private but NHS are pretty quick too.
HTH

have put 2 pics on profile so you can see what dd2 looked like

trace2 Thu 26-Aug-10 19:47:46

thank you i remember your thread lisa! have you seen my dd pic stupid thing is she as the silly glasses on but you can still see it

trace2 Thu 26-Aug-10 19:48:28

so glad your dd was ok though

trace2 Thu 26-Aug-10 19:54:15

seen pic and tbh If she was mine I would take her tomorrow to GP and he will refer her if needed. He should be able to see anything major just by looking but we got appointment anyways to be safe. She's still under the hospital now but not worried.
Hope your ok, its a worrying time. My friend DS had an eye tumor and his was picked up from picture by his auntie. He did well and now has glass eye which he loves to pop out as a party trick! LOL
Let us know how you get on

belgianbun Fri 27-Aug-10 20:27:44

Make an appt with gp and ask to be referred to a specialist opthalmologist. Good luck. I'm sure it will be fine but you need to put your mind at rest.
