I have no clue what books to get for dd (10.9yrs) to read next.

She's read Malory towers, St Claires, Horrid Henry type books. Also read all of Michael Morpurgo.

Has read and loved the Twilight books.

Just finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.

I had given her the diary of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4 to read in desperation but had forgotten how explicit it was - think she's a tad too young for wet dreams and measuring willies , so took it off her mid read.

Where to go next? I love to get her a pile of books for Christmas but am at a total loss.

Get yourself on to Book People and order the Eva Ibbotson collection - my 12 year old loves them and they will be perfect for your DD too.I have also bought her these Cathy Cassidy books for Christmas which I think she will like. Still on Book People this Celia Rees collection is good too.
Can I also recommend the Anne of Green Gables series for a hit of classic teen romantic fiction.

Hang on - you let her read the Twilight series but took Adrian Mole away from her? There is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more sex in Twilight. Mole is quite dated though - neither of my dds could be bothered with it.

Has she read the Harry Potters?
The Wind Singer series is good.
Mortal Engines series v good.
At the Firefly Gate and others by Linda Newbury - check them though as some are 'older' than others.

Sally Lockheart series by Philip Pullman.
I Coriander is v good.
The Noughts And Crosses series is VERY hard-hitting - I'd wait until secondary school for that personally.
I made my dds wait until age 12 for the Georgia Nicholson diaries - they loved them.

Also what about the cherub series by Robert muchamore. Possibly aimed more at boys, DD and all her mates devoured these stroies in year 6. They are like the Alex rider books, but a few steps on, based on espionage and adventure, but boys and girls seem to love them.

Lots of classics to be had too - DD liked black beauty, A Christmas carol, 101 Dalmatians, ballet shoes,

JANEITEisntErudite - I think I must have missed something in Twilight. I thought they were incredibly chaste. My only worry was that she'd fall in love with Edward, like I had, and start dreaming a vampire would come along and take her away from all this .

I've ordered the ones from the bookpeople.
I've also started to add the others to my Amazon basket but think I'll have to continue tomorrow - by bed awaits!

She has read the Harry Potters. Tried to get her to read The Lord of the Rings as it was my favourite book at her age, but she didn't enjoy it at all.

Apparently David Walliams books are very good. And as classics go I loved E Nesbit, Noel Streatfield. Judy Bloom or is it Blume?

Am reminded by a poster on here to make sure that she has read all of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Maybe one of the Fairy Books if she liked Twilight? The Blue Fairy Book was my favourite as a child.

The Princess and the Goblin and its sequels.

Ooh yes - Charlotte Sometimes is gorgeous.

DD1 read I Capture The Castle at about that age too - dd2 still hasn't read it though: she is 12 and, other than Twilight and re-reads of Georgia N, claims to hate books at the mo.

Oh just remembered The Silver Child series too - can't remember who by or which order they go in but they are lovely.
