I have two godsons and a nephew who are all 6 - I'd like to get them books for Christmas but feel a bit out of touch with what they would like. Any suggestions?

My 6 year old is going through all the Roald Dahl books and loves them He didn't like tintin but enjoyed Asterix.

He still prefers books with lots of pictures even when hes being read to.

My DD is loving 2 series of books aimed for boys- Astrosaurs (think dinosaurs in space) and Dinosaur Cove.

Roald Dahl, Asterix, Captain Underpants, the Jeremy Strong box set.

All good cos there's lots of them!!

(And the Captain Underpants have titles like Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants. Or something. grin)

Mr Gum - anarchic, fantastic, inventive

Annuals? eg Ben 10, Scooby Doo, Pixar/Disney

another vote for beast quest and astrosaurs. Also non fiction stuff about egyptians, dinosaurs etc usually go down well.

I'm getting You're A Bad Man Mr. Gum. for my 6 year old nephew. DD age 6 and me find it very funny.

Allan Ahlberg's "The Man Who Wore All His Clothes" - great story with funny picture s& captions. Our two love this and there are other books in the series which are just as good
