Looking for a Spider-man book for DS1 who turns 5 next month. I think he might find comic books too tricky to follow yet so wonder if there are any more straightforward story books around - I've looked on Amazon but it's hard to see which ones are comic-style. Any recommendations?

My DSCs loved Horrid Henry books. Not sure they are what you are looking for, you are likely to have to read them to your son. But mine loved the small number of pictures in the books...the books lasted from about the age of your son to nearly 12. They just kept re-reading them. I'd recommend the collections, 10 small stories in a single book. The children can then choose which one to read..

Hope not too late to reply, but we got DS (3.5) a spiderman annual - in comic book style - for Christmas. He can't understand the words, but gets so absorbed by the pictures he 'reads' it for ages by himself.

No idea whether he knows what is going on, but he likes it!

It was about £3 from The Works.
