Help I need some recommendations please for my very confident reader nephew. Anyone had success with the new Sherlock Holmes by Anthony Horowitz?
Has he read 'once' 'now' and 'then' by Morris Gleitzman? I have a year 9 tutor group and we read them and they loved them.

My nephew (12) loves the young Sherlock Holmes series. He's currently mad on the spooks books (ghosts not mi5). Has he tried lord of the rings? Nephew read the whole set in a month he loved them so much.
Michael Grant's Gone is popular among the boys in my family [including DH].

I loved the Horowitz Sherlock Holmes. But then, I'm not a thirteen year old boy

Has he read The Knife of Never Letting Go and its sequels by Patrick Ness? Also Benjamin Zephaniah appeals to this age group - Teacher's Dead is good and Refugee Boy. Kevin Brooks is also really popular with year 9 and 10 boys.

"Auslander" by Paul Dowswell is a good book for that age. I also recommend the Young Bond series by Charlie Higson if he hasn't read them already.
And thanks for the wamki site, phiex - great idea!
