did you have the same?

onefunkymama Sat 11-Feb-12 19:46:01

Nope, totally different

Dozeyland Sat 11-Feb-12 19:47:19

how was your different?

onefunkymama Sat 11-Feb-12 19:51:59

First time, waters went and contractions started right away, no doubt whatever what was going on

Second time, waters went three days before induction, the doctors didn't even think they had broken but they def had. Also had a show three weeks before delivery second time. Don't remember one at all the first time.

Totally different. DD1 - long, drawn out process, with three days of contractions. Finally went in and had to be induced as wasn't dilating after so many days of contractions.

DD2 arrived really quickly. Dilated in practically no time and less painful (no epidural with DD2, but had one as soon as I arrived in hospital with DD1). DD2 was 8 days early and DD1 on time.

I had no warning at all second time. Woke at midnight to a strong contraction, then puked and pooed at the same time. Got to hospital with 4 minutes to spare.

Taffeta - grin ! This is what i wonder will happen with me!

different ds1 days of drawn out contraction's. ds2 no signs, waters broke, nothing for half hour, full on contraction's, ds2 born an hour and a half later, midwife said one more push and baby will be here, i wasn't even aware i was pushing and asked if she was f**king joking! blush

It was fab though Dozeyland - after a 48 hour marathon with DS.

No pain relief, no time. Just got my pants off in time, had DD standing up. grin

My DD was fast! So i hope I have enough time to get through the hospital doors!

bumperliciious Sat 11-Feb-12 22:21:45

No, a lot more warning with DD2. Maybe I was just more aware though.

Pretty much the same both times. Waters broke during the night and contractions started about an hour later.

No bloody show or mucus plug appearance either times.

My SPD got much worse the two days before I went into labour the second time, so ended up equivalent to the first time when I'd been using a wheelchair for a couple months.

Then it got hugely excruciating around midnight, and by 3am it dawned on me that the really painful episodes were about 30 sec long, every 20 min and now every 15 min... duh! And I had a show just to totally clue me in.

Then instead of taking a day to get going, waters breaking as I got out of bath at home, and then stalling and chilling out in the MLU water pool, I skipped straight to the 'out of bath/pool and pelvis falls apart' stage by the time MrNC got me to the hospital - I have never been so glad to have a partner who can park on a traffic island and then find an abandoned wheelchair! Waters broke during that and in the waiting area and I got an epidural ASAP.

Got fully dilated by myself this time but with the SPD and lack of people to help get me into pushing position, and dd not turning from getting back to back, we and the docs decided 'sod it' and used a ventouse just like last time, only with lots of time as dd wasn't distressed at all and it was late and no-one else needed the theatre.

(dd born 3 days ago so still in the memory!)

First time round was a long drawn out escalation of painful BHs, followed by painful contractions, followed by more....and so on and so forth. Took ages. Couple of days in total.

Second time my waters broke (I was on MN!) my mucus plug came out, I started contracting, 7 hours later gave birth in my front room grin

Totally different.
dc1 - Painful / 'take your breath away' type contractions from the first sign, but not born until 27 hours later.
dc2 - just felt a little 'uncomfortable', and, as overdue, began to realise this 'indigestion' was coming and going regularly. Got to hospt they said I was in labour but nothing might happen for hours and tried to send me home. I wouldn't go. Gave me some pethedine as, by then were feeling a bit more like contractions. Snoozed a bit, then woke up and gave birth on the ward as no time to take me to delivery suite grin
Completely different from dc1.

Oh, and dc3 was different again wink

I had a sweep at 40+2 just as I thought "Why not" then 40+5 at 4pm on the dot I just felt iffy, DP & I planned on having a relaxed evening in, watching a DVD. He said he wanted to pop to the shops, and I said "I need to go with you, I think this might be it" no pain at this point, just uncomfy. Then literally they started progressing pretty quickly. got to SIL, then got to hospital at about 6:30, was 5cm, very intense pain but managble, got into the next room, (wanting to push) at 8:10 I was wanting to push and 8:33pm she was born. 8lb 9! i was expecting a 6lb er from the growth scans! shock to the system as I'm quite small in frame!

My waters were "bulging" so much and MW said if they were to have gone sooner, she would have come faster. They didnt break them as I wanted natural. but wish they had. they didnt break until DD's head was coming out. and this made the pain more intense i think.

I found the pain (done naturally, bit of G&A but hardly any) very intense, but not as i feared it would be. delivered placenta naturally. ... then holding baby...I was ecstatic, then I felt woozy and had PPH 1000mls 2hrs after delivery. as they thought the placenta was partially still in (after examination - it wasnt) it was put down as "ragged" ?

They put the PPH down to numerour things (big baby, small mummy, fast delivery, anaemic, and just where my body kind of went into shock maybe where i was pushing so hard, wanting to push for ages but my waters hadnt gone)

I am wanting to ask them to break my waters if they dont co-operate this time, and want to try the pool (if i have time!)

Whats the likliehood of repetition with waters not going until late in 2nd labours?
