it just bloody stared at me when I tried to chase it and wasn't at all phased by the dog!!!
I don't usually lock them up in the house bit of the Eglu but the run is supposed to be secure.
I'm willing it to get dark and hope they go to bed - guarding them til then.
I live in a town centre and I've never seen a fox in the day time.
Eek how scary. I've seen foxes on our street (newish housing development on the edge of a town) but I've not seen any evidence of them getting into the garden.
Did it come back overnight?
Have you dug wire down into the ground? I've heard that foxes can get under runs if they are on grass otherwise.
They can dig into the run I think.

We had a cheeky bugger in our garden and it had one of the chooks by the scruff of the neck before DH chased it off.
We ended up having to build a big aviary affair with a slabbed base and clear corrugated roof to keep the foxes out - they will dig and climb!!

You need double chicken wire on the bottom or they will dig in. they are only interested in one thing - getting at your chooks. Is your dog male? if so the male dog wee usually keeps them at bay. try also a radio on a talking station as sometimes this puts them off. they are horrible and i hate them all!

Get your husband to pee around the perimeter of the run. Seriously, the testosterone makes the fox think twice. And dig the wire into the ground.
I second all the advice already given! Just looked at Eglu website and I would think that if you put paving slabs round the outside of the run, on the wire "skirt" thing, that should stop bastard fox digging under. Bloody things. My husband is a gamekeeper but we've had lots of chickens, ducks and even my beautiful Ne-Ne geese murdered by foxes!

We have foxes in our garden every night and fairly often in the day, too.
One of them has an ancient grubby old slipper that he enjoys playing with. He tosses it all over the garden (we know, because it's always in a different place in the morning).
Quite often, the slipper is next to the eglu run.
We've had chickens in our garden for over 2 1/2 years now, and have not lost one to a fox yet.
We only let them out of the run if we're around, and checking on them every few minutes. Once I saw a fox come into the garden (from the kitchen window). He just stood there looking a bit bemused (! Which chicken should I chase?! He couldn't make a decision!) until I shooed him away.
Our school Eglu run seems fine - you could see the fox's tracks around the run this morning when we went to let the girls out. The bit of wire that sticks out around the outside of the run should be enough to stop any digging.
I move my Eglu every other day to keep the grass nice; how can I do that if I fox proof it?
