Curtain air bags with ERF seats

Best place to get opinion on this is the car seat manufacturer and the car producer, as it will depend totally on their decision/comment

DH is querying how safe a stage 1 car seat would be rear facing if the car has curtain airbags.

A quick google seems to give differing opinions on this and I wondered if any if you here had any thoughts.
