They sell a pdf download of plans and another with advice on how to design your own. I reckon it wouldn't be too difficult to make but I'd be a bit anxious about designing my own. Might well buy it as this is exactly the sort of thing I have been looking for for a better camp kitchen :)

I take back my comment that it wouldn't be too difficult. There are bloody loads of bits of wood to cut. I reckon its definitely doable if you are handy with that sort of thing and have some tools but it would take a seriously long time...

However I reckon you could do a modified version using wire basket drawer things on runners that would be more straightforward. And it would be bloody great to have a camp kitchen that was configured exactly as you wanted... And very satisfying to make it yourself...

Thanks for the feedback Yellow, still contemplating it. I have also googled for lots of images and wondering if an 'Ikea something' could work, although it would be heavy. I like the way it is transportable, storage and usefulness all at the same time without taking eeeons of time to set up.

An exciting prospect - i googled "chuck box plans" and had a look at the images (camping porn, if ever there was!!)

I was thinking, IKEA have those handy little wooden drawer units.....

I wondered about that Salome but i've had a look at them online this pm and not entirely sure they are a very useful size... They do have wire / plastic drawers that could go inside a custom made outer box though...

And you could still do the same basic set up of box on table thing with 2 shelves but have more simple stuff actually in it. Wouldn't be a pretty as a wooden one but probably more practical actually :)

Sorry! If it helps I also spent a lot of time googling. I did find one that someone had made using a plastic box on its side- that was on a video in you tube. I think it probably won't be long before they are more available over here, if not then I think I may have a go at making one this winter.

I have a chuck box. Dh made it for me :o Its beautiful and my pride and joy. I feel smug and together using it when Im camping ( only time I ever feel like that :o).
I bask in the envious glances cast in its direction . It is lovely maple wood with beautiful dovetailed drawers that hold all my shit kit tidy. Perfectly proportioned cut outs for handles. The perfect sized space for earwigs my pantry box.

I love my chuck box so much that Dh has just finished making me a chuck wagon . We got a smaller truck and I refused to part with the afore mentioned loveliness that is my chuck box, so he bought an old military trailer and did it all up specially to accommodate the box :o

My chuck box is a different design than the one in the picture but I like mine better :o

We used to have a Chevy Suburban ( BIG ass truck) the box was built to fit that. We got rid of the Chevy and bought a smaller truck now nothing fits in the back of it except my chuck box, ALL other kit has to go in a top box which Dh says makes the truck top heavy. I REFUSED to get rid of the box or have it cut down

Dh solution was a chuck wagon,hes such a clever handy camper, He had to build a lid to fit that would accommodate the box cos its higher than the sides of the wagon :o. The plan is to have solar powered deep cycle batteries in it next year so I can have a fridge. Hes going to put cool coloured LED lights in the cover that come on when you open it and build a removable counter that will clip on the side with a sink and a water pump so I can have running water (posh cow). It is road worth and weatherproof at the moment and looks good but all the cool fun stuff will be going on as finances allow.:o
