Ikea: any useful camping buys?

Off to Ikea at the weekend and as it's pretty much all I think about at the moment (camping, not Ikea) I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for useful bits to pick up?

I know Ikea doesn't specifically do camping items before someone points that out to me!!

I'm going at half term - mainly for the meatballs. On the list so far for camping are cheap cutlery sets (plastic cutlery is rubbish), flat cheese grater and fleecy blankets/throws. I'm sure when other people suggest things I'll want those too!

I think the fleece blankets are the way to go. They do some that are so cheap. Do you need any rugs for sitting on as well?

Their solar lights are very good they do one with a cord that you can hand up or put on a table. They also do some that look like that have paper shades (they are not paper) they are also good.

The polar fleece blankets you get in Aldi once the camping season starts proper are much much nicer (thicker & warmer) than the ikea ones for not much more ££.

Oh I do need rugs, that would be a good place to get them wouldn't it?

Hadn't thought about cutlery sets but yes a cheap set would be good, I have got some plastic ones but they make me feel sick eating off them!

Wind up torches from the childrens section - only £2.99, perfect for late night dashes to the toilet.

Plastic spotlight £2 (also buy matching energy saving LV bulb) for in tent directional lifgting. Has nice long wire. IF you have EHU.

Plastic chopping boards.

Basic cotton covered cushions £2 I think or v cheap for sitting in tent if no table.

Collapsible kids tube shaped basket things- v cheap & good for toys/laundry.

Little cushions, about 80p iirc.

Little frying pan, 1.20ish but excellent. I have 2 for home and 1 for camping.

Thank you all so much, fab ideas!

Nothing I love more than hitting Ikea with a purpose, instead of wandering around aimlessly and ending up spending a fortune on nothing.

The cheap, white high chair if you have little ones. The legs come off for easy packing into the car and perfect table height. And you could use it a home!

The blue IKEA bags are our main 'lugging' bags - they are more flexible than plastic crates or other storage, so pack better in the car. One for bedding and clothes, one for food and catering, one for outdoor messy stuff and boots etc, one which we take to the beach with spades etc in.

The thin bendy plastic chopping boards - light, take up litle space, can be bent to cram into difficult packing spaces etc.

I take a packet of the S-shaped or butchers hooks sold in the storage and kitchen department - these are invaluable for hanging over the top of shower cubicle doors when one hook is not enough - stuff can go in a plastic bag on a hook and keep dry, and off the minging wet floor or bench! Can also be useful for hanging things from anything else round the tent.

The clips for sealing plastic bags - clippit type clips. For any half used stuff you take or bring back, sealing your bag of ground coffee, etc.

Oh, sorry - you will have been and gone to IKEA by now.

Better go again grin
