I've seen a few posts about pie irons and am intrigued.
I think I need one but I need to know more about them.
Can they only be used on open fires or in hot coals?
What else, apart from toasties, can you cook in them?
I've probably got more questions...will be back when I think of them!
I'd like a pie iron and am also curious if they're only for bbqs.

I've got a Diablo that sounds like what you are meaning?
Diablo Recipes
I saw it at the camping exhibition at the NEC and stupidly didn't buy one at the time because I wanted to check them out before blindly believing everything the demonstrator said. When I got home and checked them out they were sold out everywhere!! I managed to get one from cookuk but they say sold out now. Iwantoneofthose sells them too IIRC.

I have posted a couple of times about pie irons, I think!
The Diablo is good - I have one to use at home, in my kitchen, and then took it camping where it is great on a gas stove.
For a campfire, I reckon you need an actual pie iron - some here because they have longer handles - you couldn't put a diablo on a campfire, I think - handles too short, too meltable / crackable.
A pie iron is on my hankering-for list for this year.
