Have not camped there myself. Im in Massachusetts so camped only in the New England states. Thought that link might help though. The 1 thing Ill say is bring LOTS of bug spray, the mosquitoes over here are awful!!!!! and can carry some not nice disease. Also check if where you are going has a greenhead fly problem, salty marshy type areas. Those buggers are enough to literally drive you away, their bite is really sore and they dont let up. Also check on the bear and coyote population as they can be a real problem at some campgrounds. I know in National forest campgrounds they do warn you if there is a bear population and you have to adhere to strict rules about food storage and disposal etc.

On the subject of national forests that link might help. I love national forrest camping, they are always well staffed and maintained and the rules are enforced ie no loud drunken groups of yobs ( the signs all say no alcohol but if you dont flaunt it its ok iknwim ) They are always cheaper than private camp grounds too

Happy camping usa stylegrin

The other thing is you can kit yourself out for camping on very very little money here, you would probably be cheaper picking up the kit than paying for a cabin. Walmart,Sports Authority and Dicks sporting goods are your friends. I kitted up for 6 from scratch for less than $300, that included a huge tent Im still using years latergrin
