Have a very sore painful nipple. Am using a nipple shield but its making no difference. Lo is 15days old So is feeding all the time.

Had to stop feeding on that side earlier was so painful start crying within seconds Hmm have tried a bigger shield. But it's made no difference.

The nipple is damaged on the tip and bleeds during some feeds. Can't see a bf councillor until Monday at the earliest. And can't stop feeding on that side all weekend!
But Don't know what to do?!?

Sorry this is written so badly. But very sleep deprived.

Hey GT,
Have you got any Lansinoh Lanolin? If so, smother loads on, keep the nipple otherwise dry if you can, air it out.
You can stop feeding on that breast for 24 hours if you need to just use a warm compress or go in the bath/shower to relieve the full breast (remember to catch the leaking milk! Smile )
If you are generous with the lansinoh and dont irritate the nipple any further it will get better extremely quick, lansinoh is amazing!
Keep up the good work, youre doing fantastic!

Thanks cherry.

That side is already worse for supply so that is annoying.
I have an inverted nipple. Which now is kinda out. But it looks like its split in the middle. If that makes sense.

Will apply more more lanolin.
And need to find time to lay in bed with my boob out! Grin

Try jelonet. It's amazing, sorted my cracked nipple out really quickly and I kept feeding on that side. It's little gauze squares that have some kind of vasaline like stuff on them and they encourage wet healing. It means you heal from the bottom of the crack up so there's no scab for baby to suck off again. Just stick them on and remove before you feed.

Wren is that something I can pick up from tesco? Never heard of it so wondering if its easy to buy.

You should be able to get it at a pharmacist.

Thanks ladies Grin
I have rested that side for about 20hours. Used lanolin. Expressed twice. First feed I was scared of the pain. But it wasn't bad!
I've now got the jelonet on for over night healing to make sure it doesn't get bad again. And as I can see it hasn't heeled yet.

Approximated your quick response in the middle of the night. Was seriously considering giving up. But knowing there was a fix helped me to get thro the night

Thanks
