Brilliant!
If babies are recommended to exist purely on breast milk for 6 months surely a GP could figure out that it must therefore contain the right amount of fluids to keep a baby healthy. Idiot. How could someone with so little common sense become a GP in the first place?!

So glad she is feeling better you doctor sounds like an ignorant twat a little ill informed. You instincts are spot on, she will get everything she needs from you. Does your GP think that all ebf babies are dehydrated?

Thanks everybody. She's not very proficient with a sippy cup so I would probably have to try to spoon feed her water which just seemed daft to me.
My instinct is how can anything be better for her than breastmilk.
I will continue just feeding her. Fingers crossed she seems a little better today. She is taking an interest in playing w toys which is a massive improvement.

Milk has way more calories than water
and will also be hydrating.
You can look out for the signs of dehydration just to be safe (nappies, lips, fontanelle). She'll probably be better before that

Personally, I would go with your instinct. Providing she is having enough feeds, the breastmilk should be just fine until she decides that she is ready to eat again. Obviously, at the first sign of any dehydration then perhaps look at water, but does she drink any water at all now? My DS didn't really take to drinking water until he was over 12 months old, so that may be a non-starter.

Breastmilk will keep her hydrated and will give her calories and antibodies too. Ignore the GP in this instance, your instinct is right.
Feed her as much and as often as she wants.

Long story short, DD2 (7 months adjusted) is poorly. Completely off solid food and has reverted to being ebf.
Doc said I should be also trying to encourage her to drink water or juice (juice??) just in case she gets dehydrated. She's not showing any signs of dehydration at the mo and seems to be feeding well.
My instinct is that breastmilk is best for her. What do you all think??
