Don't go?

At 3 weeks old the baby will probably still be permanently attached to your boob.
Is there anyway you could take the lo with you?
(Ie are you going to a restaurant?)

shushpenfold · 05/05/2012 12:53

Seriously - I would not be planning to go without the baby at 3 weeks old and bf and then only reluctantly with him/her, for a shortish meal. You'll be knackered..

heliumballoon · 05/05/2012 12:57

At 3 weeks old you'll be lucky to get out. My DD2 cluster fed 5 till 11pm at that age and never slept more than 2 hours. A night out was the last thing on my mind.

LadyWidmerpool · 05/05/2012 12:57

Hopefully you will have a sneeze birth bit there's a chance you might not feel up to going out even after three weeks. That's the first thing.

Secondly three weeks is quite early to introduce a bottle if you are BFing and you would need to do it beforehand to make sure baby takes to it.

Thirdly if you plan to put expressed milk in the bottle, you may find it takes a long time to get enough for an evening.

Fourthly (is that a word) yes, you may experience some discomfort and there may be leakage.

Tiny babies are very portable so I would plan to bring yours with you if at all possible. That phase doesn't last long so enjoy it!

Good luck.

take the baby with you - at such a young age they are incredibly portable

if not then regretfully decline invitation

missing one night out is not the end of the world, and your friend will understand partic if you make firm plans to take her out/do something special later on in the year

biglips · 05/05/2012 12:58

no, its a drinking nightout with a massive gang. argghh....i really wants to go as cannot remember when i last went out!.....but at the back of my mind it may be too early or may cause problems with the baby.

no don't go then; honestly, you will be miserable missing your baby, feeling uncomfortable in the boobage, possibly glum because you won't want to get totally blotto (presuming, here, of course)

spa day with your friend say in september??

biglips · 05/05/2012 13:02

i know as i was planning to see her and drop her pressie off as her bday is 2 weeks before the nightout and then she had invited me out.

yes i do believe the bottle be too early as well as its just not a good timing, isnt it? Smile

thanks everyone and i will plan a nightout with her later on in the year. Grin

awww bless you; I do sympathise, feeling hugely pg/bf/newborning when everyone else is off partaaaaay-ing feels a bit [sticks lower lip out in massive pout]

best of luck with the birth and I look forward to your announcement thread Smile

Folicacid · 05/05/2012 13:12

I think you could be pretty exhausted at that point but if you do feel up to it I would plan to take baby with you as they will probably cluster feed all evening. If you do express and and the baby will take a bottle, you will need to take a pump with you to pump off your boobs in the bathroom as you will get big and sore.

Why don't you see how you feel and either go between feeds for an hour if you do have a between feeds at that stage, or take baby with you?

biglips · 05/05/2012 15:35

531 - hahaha.......i know.....[sticks lower lip out in massive pout]

I tried doing this, expressed loads, (had oversupply), lined up baby sitters etc, and baby wouldn't take a bottle!

I'd see how you feel about a week before, and if baby will take a bottle or not. Be warned though, your breasts will grow throughout the night!
